Subject: West Coast session info? From: aaronjclegg Date: 14 Sep 02 - 12:17 AM Hi everyone! I'm newly signed up and would like info on any sessions along the West Coast of the U.S. I'm from New Hampshire, but am visiting the entire West Coast over the next two to three months. I sing shanties and play Celtic flute, and would love to do some playing and singing while I'm out here. Thanks! Aaron. |
Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: GUEST,SharonG Date: 14 Sep 02 - 12:24 AM Hi Aaron Arizona is not exactly "west coast", but if you venture out this way, we have sessions on Tuesdays- alternating between the Rincon Market (1st and 3rd Tuesdays) and the Frog and Firkin Pub (2nd and 4th Tuesdays). The Rincon sessions are more eclectic, and the Frog & Firkin sessions are Irish. Sharon |
Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: Barry Finn Date: 14 Sep 02 - 02:00 AM By any chance do you also play fiddle, mandolin & accordian too & once in a blue moon hit the Press Room back home? Where are you gonna be & when (not that I'll see you there) so people here can give you percise info? There's a good bit of West Coasters that frequent the mudcat that you'll love playing with & a bunch from the Portland area too. Have a blast out there, see ya sometime back east. Barry in Derry |
Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: GUEST,Charley Noble in Pala Alto Date: 14 Sep 02 - 03:01 AM You may find a clue or two from my two travel threads for "Frisco" and "Portland West." Good luck! Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: Peter Kasin Date: 14 Sep 02 - 03:16 AM Will you be in the San Francisco bay area? We have a chantey sing on the first Saturday of evey month. 8pm-midnight aboard an historic ship at San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. Catters Radriano, Melani, Riggy, and Toadfrog are regulars, with PJ and Dave Swan, Elise, and Sourdough occasionally appearing. Hope winters wages gets back to it. PM me or call 415-556-6435 for more info. If you can't make that, PM one or more of us, and we can try to arrange a get-together. There's also several Irish sessions in the area, and a once-a-month Scottish session. Some catters, me included, go to Shay Black's Sunday night Irish session at the Starry Plough in Berkeley, where there's singing as well as tunes. Best, Chanteyranger |

Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: aaronjclegg Date: 14 Sep 02 - 05:01 PM Barry in Derry, I do hit the Press Room more often than not when I'm back home, but I only sing and play flute and whistle. Everyone else: Thanks for the info. I'm not sure about my travel dates but I will be spending about a week in Portland, OR in the end of Sept, then some time in Bend, then Eureka/Arcata, CA, then Bay Area, then Santa Cruz, then Santa Barbara, San Diego, and probably some time in New Mexico. Aaron. |
Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: Jeri Date: 14 Sep 02 - 06:49 PM Barry, his dad plays fiddle and probably other things - can't remember if he does squeezables. Aaron doesn't play fiddle, only sits on them. (Hehehe) Aaron, have a nice trip. Everyone else, Aaron is a very good singer and a wonderful flute & whistle player. He's also a heck of a nice guy and plays well with others. |
Subject: RE: West Coast session info? From: Barry Finn Date: 14 Sep 02 - 11:53 PM See & all along I thought it was Doug incognito, didn't think (there I go again, no thinking from now on, bad boy). Hi Arron, sorry about the mix up but Clegg, NH, Music I thought (well you now know what I thought). Is your Dad out that way? Last time I talked with him (a good while ago) he had the West Coast on his mind. Pass on a hello from me, will ya. Tell him I always thought of him as to young to have kids already grown (just teasing him). Have a great time. Hi Jeri, Doug does squeezables (that sounds fresh) & other assorted strings aside from fiddle. Barry
