From: GUEST,Peter Arnesen

Hi, folks.
The late Scott Dunbar is doing 11 wonderful tracks on his (one and only) record dated back from 1970. For a norwegian some of these tracks are very difficult to transcribe. The lyrics might not be complicated but the way they are pronounced as well as my unfamilarity with the american language makes them a huge challenge to me. I hope some of you have the lyrics, especially track 10, "Blue Yodel".
Thanks!

Hi Peter, he is certainly a wonderful, and one of a kind. He can be something of a challenge to transcribe though. His 'Blue Yodel' seems to yoke together all the blues floaters he could think of at the time - and even then he couldn't remember the words to some. He was having a great time though. Here's what I can make of it; I hope it helps:

BLUE YODEL

[Soft moaning, mouth music and blue yodel–like noises]

Don't tell me no story, please don't tell me no lie – [moan]
Don't tell me no story, please don't tell me no lie
'Cos the day that you quit me, mama, that's the day I surely die – [moan]
[Blue yodel]

Says you talked about trouble, had it all day long – [moan]
Oh you talked about trouble, had it all day long
'Cos you make me think, baby, I ain't comin' here no more – [moan]
[Blue yodel]

Where was you, mama, evenin' sun went down – [moan]
Oh where was you, mama, evenin' sun went down
I'se way in this valley, way down and cryin' – [moan]
[Blue yodel]

Dee de dee, da de dee dee, sleep in a log - [Moan]
[Spoken: well, I drank muddy water], sleep in a hollow log
'Cos my baby done told me, mama, she ain't comin' here no more
[Moaning]

Lord, you tellin' me baby [indecipherable]
Yes, you tell me, baby, what you gonna do
You ain't tellin' me, baby, comin' here no more
[Mouth music and guitar]

Oh talk to me, baby, dee dee dee dee dum – [moan]
Yes, you tell me, baby, how you stayed last night
I done come home this mornin', sun was shinin' bright – [Moan]
[Blue yodel]

[Spoken: 'Come on, Johnny'] - [Loud guitar strumming with mouth music]
Oh don't shake my tree, yeah I shake my tree,
Yeah I shake my peaches, don't shake my tree [laughing]
'Cos you tell me, mama, I ain't comin' here no more – [Moan]
[Blue yodel]

I'm g'ine [ Spoken: where the water drink like turpentine
I'm goin' where the water drink like turpentine, now] [Laughs]
Oh where the water drink like turpentine – [Moan]
[Spoken: where the water drink like turpentine]
I'm goin' where the water drink like turpentine
Well she ain't [ ?] , she ain't no hand-me-down [sounds like 'tellin' me' or could be a girl's name]
[Laughter and indecipherable banter on outro]

Stewie - whoever you are; you're great! Thanks a lot. At this moment, reading your message, I am at my office. I have to be patient and stay here all day long, and then - in the afternoon I can pick up my guitar and try to play the tune. I can hardly wait!
Thanks!
