Subject: Rab Noakes..... Scotlands finest From: akenaton Date: 03 Jan 04 - 05:18 PM After reading an unflattering remark about Rab on another thread,I dug out the last CD of his that I had bought. Its called "Rab Noakes"....."Standing up",and it contains eight of Rabs own songs, others by Micheal Marra, Dylan, Carter family,David Byrne ect. The CD is a cracker, most songs done in one take, and it contains the brilliant tribute to Alex Campbell "Gently does it" Iv been a fan of Rabs since the 70s and god knows why hes so under rated. In my opinion hes the best modern Scots song writer, with the possible exception of Gerry Raffery. Rab now works a lot in radio promoting folk music ,And I think he would make a great replacment for Archie Fisher in Travelling Folk, who is becomming incomprehensible, due to his loose false teeth. I cant understand a word!! Are you listening BBC.....Ake PS ...Buy that CD...Mediart music...MDMCD 003. |
