Why am i feeling like this? Why am I feeling ripped in two? Why do i want everything? Why is just a bit not enough? Why do i cut myself off from people who would love me, by going for someone who doesnt really want or need me? Why does someone so passionate frighten me? Will I ever have someone to love again? Someone I can trust? And why am I feeling this way when I'm meant to be old enough to know better? Pimple on the arse of the universe. |

Subject: RE: BS: what is love From: GUEST,freda Date: 05 May 04 - 10:03 PM CXVI Let me not to the marriage of true minds Admit impediments. Love is not love Which alters when it alteration finds, Or bends with the remover to remove: O no, it is an ever-fixed mark, That looks on tempest and is never shaken; It is the star to every wandering bark, Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken. Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks Within his bending sickle's compass come; Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks, But bears it out even to the edge of doom. If this be error, and upon me proved, I never writ, nor man ever loved. W. Shakespeare |

Subject: RE: BS: what is love From: Ebbie Date: 28 Apr 04 - 06:04 PM A bit of pedantry here: What we call love is often only infatuation. And sometimes the distinction is confusing. A song I wrote kind of typifies this idea: Ten Thousand Tomorrows Long ago you were all the world to me From here to horizon, far as I could see But time- it moved on, leaving you behind Ten thousand tomorrows you've been out of my mind. Once I really loved you. I loved you a lot Once I really loved you. Why have I forgot? Forgotten the way you sat in a chair Forgotten your smile and the scent of your hair Don't even recall the touch of your hand Forgotten it all- it's not what I planned. Once I really loved you. Just when did I stop? Once I really loved you. Why have I forgot? I open this morning's paper and there is your face Next to some strangers, each one in its place Yesterday you died- imagine my shock Once I really loved you. Why have I forgot? Once I really loved you... I submit I didn't really love him. Eb |

Subject: RE: BS: what is love From: freda underhill Date: 28 Apr 04 - 07:39 AM I do not love you except because I love you; I go from loving to not loving you, From waiting to not waiting for you My heart moves from cold to fire. I love you only because it's you the one I love; I hate you deeply, and hating you Bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you Is that I do not see you but love you blindly. Maybe January light will consume My heart with its cruel Ray, stealing my key to true calm. In this part of the story I am the one who Dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you, Because I love you, Love, in fire and blood. Pablo Neruda |

When all things repose do you alone Awake to hear the sweet harps play To Love before him on his way, And the night wind answering to antiphon Till night is overgone? Play on, invisible harps, unto Love, Whose way in heaven is aglow At that hour when soft lights come and go, Soft sweet music in the air above And in the earth below. James Joyce |

Subject: RE: BS: what is love From: Amos Date: 26 Apr 04 - 03:58 PM I Knew a Woman I knew a woman, lovely in her bones, When small birds sighed, she would sigh back at them; Ah, when she moved, she moved more ways than one: The shapes a bright container can contain! Of her choice virtues only gods should speak, Or English poets who grew up on Greek (I'd have them sing in chorus, cheek to cheek.) How well her wishes went! She stroked my chin, She taught me Turn, and Counter-turn, and stand; She taught me Touch, that undulant white skin: I nibbled meekly from her proffered hand; She was the sickle; I, poor I, the rake, Coming behind her for her pretty sake (But what prodigious mowing did we make.) Love likes a gander, and adores a goose: Her full lips pursed, the errant note to seize; She played it quick, she played it light and loose; My eyes, they dazzled at her flowing knees; Her several parts could keep a pure repose, Or one hip quiver with a mobile nose (She moved in circles, and those circles moved.) Let seed be grass, and grass turn into hay: I'm martyr to a motion not my own; What's freedom for? To know eternity. I swear she cast a shadow white as stone. But who would count eternity in days? These old bones live to learn her wanton ways: (I measure time by how a body sways.) ~ Theodore Roethke |

The skies are not as blue when you're not with me The stars they never seem to shine as bright And the hours crack like days across the ages And a year or two pass by with every night It makes me know if i should ever leave this world before you do When you follow you must promise, cross your heart and promise to Find me...look hard, and dont stop, I'll be waiting 'till then Dont sleep, and dont eat 'till I'm back, back in your arms again I dont wanna have to spend all my forever without you. Just knowing that your out there somewhere too. So darlin...please I'm begging you on bended knee... Find me... I've tried to tell this world how much i love you. But they dont understand how deep it goes. And i can't even find the words to tell you So I'm the only one who really knows. And though we have our times together, I am always wanting more So if we get separated wont you do just like before and Find me...look hard and dont stop, I'll be waiting 'till then Dont sleep, and dont eat 'till I'm back, back in your arms again Through a hundred million faces you will see me shinning through. 'Cause I'll glow when you come close , I always do. So darlin' please im begging you on bended knee.. We can share our love through all eternity 'Cause with you is all i ever wanna be...... Find me |

Subject: RE: BS: what is love From: LadyJean Date: 13 Feb 04 - 11:38 PM Someone gave my mother season tickets to the opera. She went with my sister, or me, or one of her friends. Dad didn't care for opera, and they were both perfectly happy if he spent the evening at home with his dog and his histories, and she went off to enjoy the pleasures of Verdi and Puccini. Then, one night, mother couldn't find anyone to go with. She told dad she was going by herself, and, when he expressed reservations, she told him that she had gotten to know two gentlemen who had the seats behind her, and she was certain that they would see her to her car. Dad announced that he was taking mother to the opera. My father sat through Donizetti's "Elixir of Love", to protect mother from two potential roue's. She was, at the time, 58, and she looked it. Dad was three years older, but it hadn't occurred to him that men might not find the woman he married attractive. Mother's two friends didn't find women attractive. Fortunately, they didn't find dad attractive either. Dad's description of the opera included the line, "And the balcony was too high for a John Wilkes Booth leap, so I was forced to endure." The only thing that would have saved the performance for him was if two of the singers had a sword fight. Then dad could have critiqued the fencing. There are no swordfights in "Elixir of Love". My parents didn't have the happiest marriage in the world, but my father sat through an opera, with no fencing, to protect my mother from two gay men, because he thought she was still the very beautiful lady he married. I think that has a lot to do with love. |

Subject: RE: BS: what is love From: *daylia* Date: 09 Feb 04 - 09:17 AM So if you're sorry, there's no Love Story? That doesn't sound right to me. When I need to apologize to someone, I do. What's the alternative -- expecting others to be mind-readers because I love them and vice versa? Not apologizing at all if I've said or done something hurtful? Sorry, I just don't see how that would benefit a relationship, or make me into more loving person. alwayswillingtoLOVINGLYapologizewhensheneedstodaylia |
