Subject: Clannad lyrics From: Maelgwyn Date: 06 Oct 98 - 01:41 PM I'm looking for lyrics to two songs in gaelic from the Clannad album 'Dulaman'. They are 'Mo Mhaire' and 'dTigeas a Damhsa'. |

Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: Aine Date: 09 Oct 98 - 04:24 PM Dear Maelgwyn, I've done an exhaustive search on the Net and through my own resource material, but I cannot find the lyrics for these two songs. If you are able to get them, would you please be so kind as to post them on the Mudcat? They are both lovely songs, aren't they? Adh mor ort! Slan, Aine |
Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: alison Date: 09 Oct 98 - 10:36 PM Hi, I did find a Clannad lyric site at one stage, can't find it now. (probably through Jen's or International Lyrics server). I do remember it only had english lyrics. Slainte alison |

Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: Martin Pearson Date: 10 Oct 98 - 07:15 PM I find that if you hum along to the tune with your mouth open, and then on every third beat open your mouth a bit wider and form a consonant (without stopping humming), it sounds just like you know the lyrics anyway. This will work for any audience who aren't gaelic speaking. Of course any gaelic speakers will be so incensed that they will probably tear you a new orifice. I hope this helps Martin |
Subject: Lyr Add: MO MHÁIRE and DTIGEAS A DAMHSA From: Wolfgang Hell Date: 11 Oct 98 - 05:31 AM My Dulaman LP has all the lyrics added, so here are the two songs. Please blame my scanner for all the typos left and not me. Of course I tried to improve the partial mess he made of the copy, but proofreading in a language you do not know at all is a very challenging job. Wolfgang Mo Mháire
Ag feis nó dáil níl bean le fáil

Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: Áine Date: 11 Oct 98 - 12:27 PM Dear Wolfgang: You're brilliant!! There are a few mistakes in the Irish -- I'll fix them this evening and repost tomorrow. I am very impressed with you, especially since you don't have an Irish on you. Maith thú! Thanks so much for sharing the words with all of us -- these are two very lovely songs that deserve to be 'out and about'. Slán go fóill, Áine |
Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: Wolfgang Date: 11 Oct 98 - 12:46 PM by the way: this is the second set of gaelic lyrics from Clannad I could post to a request. Does this mean that all of you are so young that you own your Clannad recordings as CDs and I'm the only one left with half a dozen Clannad LPs (all of them with complete lyrics!) or should I think that they added the lyrics for the German market only assuming that in Ireland this was unnecessary? Wolfgang |
Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: alison Date: 12 Oct 98 - 02:59 AM Hi wolfgang, I got "Fuaim", and "Macalla" as LPs in Belfast, they had all the lyrics, Irish, & English. Slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: Wolfgang Date: 12 Oct 98 - 03:29 AM Hi Alison, yes, it makes sense not to omit the lyrics on one market. |
Subject: RE: Clannad lyrics From: GUEST,ardibee Date: 25 May 01 - 06:55 PM Go raibh míle maith agat, a Wolfgang. Unfortunately, some of us are such "newbies" that we have only the cd versions. Many lacking lyrics. Thank you for being! |
