Some of you may know I am headed for England in August of 2005. What you may not know is that my preliminary research seems to indicate that a round the world flight would be cheaper than a round trip ticket to England (from Guam). Of course the preliminary research could be faulty, look at Ford Prefect from the Hitchhiker's Guide.

However, if I have to fly around the world I might as well include some stops to visit out of the way Mudcats. I expect I will meet amny in England and I would hope to get to Scotland and Ireland on this trip. I want to visit Skarpi in Iceland. I know I can make stops in the USA and Canada. And I know there are several in New Zealand and Australia. But who is out there that is really out of the main stream? Who can I add to my list who lives in really interesting places?

Please come and visit with us a while. I'm nearly the most Southern Mudcatter, I think. Stewart Island is a bit further down, but then it's us. We're just across from Sam. South-west Victoria - wild ocean, rugged mountains, grassland plain, sleeping volcano, kangaroos and such and me and my True-love. Cheers Joy

Do pay a visit to Sam on Stewart Island (NZ) and report back on his pet GIANT SQUID.

You could also visit my old neighbors in the Gurage area of Ethiopia and see if they still sing their old work chants while they're transplanting bananna trees. And raise a horn of honey wine to the Old Gods while you're there.

I do not recommend visiting Iraq or Afganistan for the next thousand years.

Ya move to an exotic island in the south Pacific that's thousands of air miles from EVERYTHING and you want to find people and places even more exotic and remote?!?

Sounds like a plan to me.

BTW, keep yer eyes on yer passport . . . (and keys, and plane ticket, and, well, you know).

Oh, I also want a report on the giant squid.

Thanks, one and all. I am really looking forward to this trip. I hope I can pull it off. Right now I am busily trying to keep up with the last three months of work without developing too much of a short timer's attitude.
