Subject: BS: Good Name for Guest Richard?
From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull
Date: 13 Sep 04 - 02:34 AM

Hello,
Guest Richard is goingf to join mudcat wehn he thinks of a good name, last week he saying "people should give me ideas for good names"

a bit about him=He is fiddle bloke from Hull, and he is doing Phd in fish [marine conversation?]
so i thought of calling him "That fishy bloke from hull waht plats the fiddle", but maybe thats a bit too long?

so put your ideas here, and he pick the best one, [he does singing as well, he did a song one day at our flok club]
maybe ="That singing fishy bloke from hull waht goes to unibersity and knows all about fish etc and plays the fiffle"?
no, thats even longer!

Whilst it is true that I like it roughly from behind,I protest at being descibed as Ged's boyfriend! He is simply a passing fancy, and I am still looking for a nice boy my own age. Ged is WAY too old for me!

Although I guess it should be more correctly displayed as 'king Richard of Hull or even Richard of 'king Hull...

Cheers

To inject a little sense into this important quest I would suggest

"Risteard is aimn dom"

which translated from the gaelic means; "Richard is my name"

Hello everyone,

Thank you for your suggestions - they have provided me with much amusement. Being lilly-livered and indecisive, I can't decide which name to take yet. My favourites so far are (in no particular order):

Dicky Fiddlefish
Risteard is aimn dom
Sod Cod
Cpt. Cod
Cod fiddler (Coddler)
Benthos Stringstroker

I was thinking myself of Crispy Cod Piece...

Keep 'em coming!

Do you people in Hull go around to people's houses in the dead of night and drag them out, kicking and screaming, to sign up on Mudcat? Is this all part of Hull's plot for world domination? In any case, welcome, Richard the Ichthyothingie.

Hello Nick,

I am coming to LNF on friday (apparently unusually for me on friday nights, not in a dress). I will be bringing some friends and we intend to camp (3 small tents) to enable supping of wondrous ale. I did ring the Blacksmith's Arms a week ago, and they said it would be fine (though I didn't speak to Ben). If you could check for me I would be most grateful.

Jeri, I'm not being dragged kicking and screaming into Mudcat. I have been here for some time, first as a lurker, then as GUEST, Richard. 'Tis time I became a member. I thought that a naming threat might initiate hilarity and humour. I am not sure whether this was a sensible decision but there have been some good suggestions. Thank you for your welcome.

Richard.

It occurred to me that its a bit like the Charge of the light brigade asking for suggestions for a mudcat login name
Were you wearing you black dress last night at the Woolpack I had hoped to come along but the Tetse fly that lives at the back of my shed has stuck again and laid me low so I'm rattling full of antibiotics and steroids and off the ale. I diidnt turn up as I get v morose if I'm in a pub and can't have a pint and theres no way I'll shell out a couple of qiud for a pint of lemonade

Richard -

Not sure whether you'll see this before we see you tonight. Hopefully so.

I hope it is not stating the obvious to say ...

REMEMBER TO BRING THE VIOLIN

Last time, band started about 9 and the evening was marked by silence prior to them coming on. Donald is up for playing a few things and I'll give it a go - interested in stroking a few toons before?

Trust you've had lots of sleep. If it goes the same as last time (which of course it might not) it was a very late night and part of the fun was getting the chance to sing and play along with the band informally afterwards (c1am onwards...)

BTW, we have tried to move the echo chamber (sorry, gents toilet) into the main part of the pub as a performance aid but it has met with resistance from the landlord and regulars. Still you can't have everything (there's no where to put it all)

See ya later

Hello super ted. Cod Fiddler it is!

Hello Nick, I haven't had much sleep and I have a moderate hangover but I will survive. I'll bring the fiddle. I hope that we do get the chance to play with the band! That would be very exciting. I'm sorry to hear about the echo chamber - I'll just have to go to the toilet to play with myself so to speak.

See you later.
