Economic indicators show economy may seriously be weakening.

Oil prices are through the roof.

The Dow is like a teeter totter.

News in Iraq keeps going from worse to uspeakably, horrificly worse, including the puppet Iraqi government blaming the US for the massacre of Iraqi soliders by insurgents.

More leaks about US violations of Geneva Conventions on prisoners of war.

The CHIEF Supreme Court justice is on his way out.

Pentagon leaks news of escalation of troop levels in Iraq as soon as the US election is over, despite administration claims to the contrary.

And most importantly, the Astros lost and Red Sox won.

If Kerry can't win it now...

But Mrs. Heinz Kerry said Laura Bush didn't have a real job and that has gotten the most coverage.

That's liberal media for ya eh?

Well, one thing that makes it hard for Kerry's supporters to be happy is that so much of this news sucks for us, our friends and families, and fellow Americans. Just because I support Kerry doesn't mean I want Rehnquist to die of cancer or our allies in Iraq to be massacred.

Also, the sneering and/or disparaging tone of "If Kerry can't win now..." won't win you best buddies from Kerry supporters.

Most of the folks I know don't yap about their voting franchise. They just use it to make things better. I know a small few who use playground antics, bullying, and childish gloating, but not many. Most of them act like sober adults.

There are a lot of Republicans who are so angry at Bush that they are crossing over to Kerry--more than a few saying that, "it's a good thing we are having an election, because it saves us the trouble of an impeachment"--

Old Guy--

In West Virginia, eh?---well-known haven of tolerance and good feeling.

Possibly the Kerry supporters are considering the possibility that their wonderful neighbors who rely on emotion rather than reason (i.e. Bush supporters), would tear Kerry signs down.

Still looking for one person who both thinks and supports Bush--and why.

Old Guy, sounds like you're out of the running.

I am getting so badly harrassed by the Democrats for supporting Nader this year, I've feared for my safety. Last night (again) the Democrats for Kerry doorknockers were distrubing me during the final game of the World Series (just goes to show how messed up their priorities are--nothing is sacred to these fanatics) last night, they were oh so very polite. Was our household registered, and who would we be voting for. So I told them, 1 Kerry and 4 Nader. They went ballistic, and started ARGUING WITH ME. Canvassers ARGUING WITH PEOPLE THEY ARE JUST SUPPOSED TO BE POLITE WITH AND SAY THANK YOU FOR YOUR VOTE.

I slammed the door in their faces.

I haven't had any trouble from the Republicans, but then I live in a Democratic Party stronghold neighborhood in St Paul. The Republicans have been by twice, asked if we're registered, asked who we are voting for, asked if wanted their propaganda, and politely said thank and left. The Democratic door knockers have harrassed us every time they have come to the house (three times now) when we've told them 1 for Kerry, 3 for Nader.

Sorry, courageous "Guest" (Ghost)---

1) My sympathies are always extremely limited for anybody who only uses "Guest"--no handle. That's the mark of a troll.   And you wouldn't want to be mistaken for a troll, now would you?

There's an easy way out----get a handle. Then we'll talk.

2) Nobody should commit violence against another's person, home, or property--including tearing down signs or defacing them.

But talking to you, debating with you, even arguing with you is fine, in my opinion. OK--it may not have the desired effect---may even strengthen you in your unthinking stubborn attachment to Nader.

But your righteous indignation is misplaced. Nobody likes an interruption, and may experience it as harassment.   I don't like phone calls at dinner. So I don't answer them--let the machine take them. You don't have to let people into your house. So don't.

But it's not a federal case.

And this is probably the most important election in decades.

Anti-Bush people should stand together. That's what your visitors were trying to say.

Don't believe everything you hear and only half of what you read...and 1/10 of what you see on TV!!

Ron: I DO think and I support Bush. He may not be the best president we've ever had but then name which one (in recent history has been) but, at least he takes a position and supports it. This is what I like to see in a leader.

Be open minded and intelligent and look at where the world and our country has gone since 9/11. Our past policies of appeasement and the fear of pissing someone off got us to 9/11. We (USA) had a reputation of strength and independence but, sadly, that wained since Vietnam.

Mr. Bush in his response to Afghanistan and Iraq again showed the world that we're not to be f**ked with. Look at the results: an evil dictator has been removed from power (Hitler could have been removed before WWII got into full swing had it not been for Neville Chamberlain's policies of appeasement) and the potential connection to terrorist activities severed (anyone who believes that Hussein's regime did not support world terrorism has been asleep); Regardless of WMD's, follow the longer term results of the war in Iraq: Libya - has, finally, agreed to "disarm" and become "civil" (in fact Khadafi and his son have worked to secure release of hostages held in Iraq); North Korea - what have you heard from them since we took action in Afghanistan and Iraq?! Iran - even this hotbed is becoming more tractable.

Should we have waited for "world (read UN - read France, Germany, China, Russia) opinion" to agree with our "course of action"? How many times did Hussein break the sanctions that were applied by the UN with no retribution? How many times do you let your kids break the rules before taking disciplinary action? Are the above mentioned "allies" so omnipotent and infallible that we should cede our sovereignty to them? Look at the latest "Oil for Food" scandal that those countries are implicated in - is it any wonder that they didn't want to remove this "profitable" man and end his regime of death?

Domestic economy: Let's not bring the age old Republican vs. Democrat debate of "rich versus poor" into this. Sure the economy isn't that great but is that the fault of one man or a series of world events (9/11, Madrid bombing, increase in oil demand from 3rd world countries, strikes/unrest in Nigerian oilfields, hurricanes in our Gulf Coast, etc., etc.)that have combined to weaken the economies of many countries? Perhaps the Bush policies aren't the best but, what suggestions do you have? And remember - we're in an "election cycle" - Wall Street hates uncertainty and as our financial markets go, so goes our economy. Sometimes, Sh*t just happens (good or bad).

I could go on but...let me finish with a question: who would you rather have had in your corner when the bully was beating you up in the schoolyard? A lawyer (actually a pair of them) who are more concerned with making everyone happy or a man who will take a stand and stand up for his beliefs. And, oh by the way, I was just wondering, what did Mr. Kerry do with the money he and his wife saved from the "tax cut for the rich" that he received. I don't remember hearing that he refused that reduction in his taxes and paid it to the gov't. to help all of us "poor folks"!

I'll take the guy who kicked ass in nam over the guy who got drunk in Texas and Alabama.

I'll take the prosecutor who put away lots of crooks over the cheerleader.

I'll take the Senator who uncovered the Iran-Contra scandal over the Governor who executed retarded people.

I'll take a man who understands that as the world changes, so too your position must sometimes change, over the man who pretends his course of action was, is, and always will be right.

I could go on, but you get the idea, Fire Chief.
