I'm tryin to makes sense of the clues.

You wanted to start a thread because two other 'Catters [who have names beginning with 'B'} started a thread about race. One is about racial groups and the other is about a contest.

[Maybe the fact that the other thread starters and your name begins with a B is just a coincidence- but I've read that there's no such thing as coincidence. Maybe that's true and maybe it's not.]

Then you say your thread was supposed to be called Brucie's ACE thread.

You include a hyperlink of a card showing Aces.

And you say the OTHER end.

Do you mean the finish line?

"Ace" used to be a slang expression for best..

Do you mean that your thread will be the best? Or the person who wins your contest will ace out the others??

Well I sure was operating out of my Virgo astrological rising sign last night. Trying to be logical.. I should have let my Sagittarius sun sign rule but I didn't...

Because I was acting Virgoian, I didn't see the forest because I was trying to count all the trees. Trying to analyze the details, details, and more details.

Freda's connection of "Ace" with "race" makes sense to me. Why didn't I see that? My answer: because I was trying too hard.

Well, if Brucie has also added clickies of 'faces" , maybe I would have gotten that he [probably ?} meant the name of this thread to be "Brucie's race thread" [But umm- I'm not sure about that].

Okay. I've learned my lesson. Next time with fun threads like this, I'm gonna TRY to sit back and let the thread flow. Then when I think I have FIGURED OUT what the thread is about {if it's about anything I feel I can contribute to in a fun way and not a serious way} then I'll jump in.

Folks, I messed up. I meant to title this thread "Brucie's Ace Thread" (John O'Lennaine has the right of it) and I was so busy fartin' around with the blue clicky in an attempt to be 'clever' and put the link IN the thread title that I stepped on my crank. The shame of it all. When I couldn't GET the link in the thread title, I then put it in the body of the post and forgot to got back to the title and write the word ace there.

Screwed, blued and tattooed. But it has taught me to proof my post before I hit the submit button and I shall do so from now on.

Black Ace:

"In the late '30s, a Texan by the name of Babe Karo Lemon Turner released a single called `Black Ace Blues.' A Fort Worth radio station started to use the cut as a theme song and soon Turner assumed the moniker. Long before Jeff Healy piqued the music world's curiosity by playing guitar on his lap, Black Ace was playing a National steel guitar on his lap with a slide. He was one of only a few bluesmen who used this technique, the others being Kokomo Arnold and Black Ace's mentor, Oscar `Buddy' Woods. After only a few recordings in the '30s he remained dormant until Arhoolie Records' Chris Strachwitz ventured to his Fort Worth home in 1960 and brought the obscure bluesman back to the public's ear. Those recordings were originally issued the following year on Black Ace's only LP. With the fortunate advent of compact discs, we now have the pleasure of hearing the slide guitarist again some 30 years later. This disc features both the original sides from the '30s and those waxed in '60 including three never issued before. Except for one song left out from the '60s sessions, this is thus the complete Black Ace.
Borrowing as much from Lonnie Johnson as Robert Johnson, Black Ace's style is much more city-like than the latter and less rough around the edges. While it is not as intense as Robert Johnson, it tends to be a little bit more listenable. Of the 70 minutes of music on this disc, almost all of it revolves around women, most of them bad ones. Even the Christmas songs `Christmas Time Blues' and `Santa Claus Blues,' beg not for better times or more money but, you guessed it, for the return of Black Ace's baby.

While his singing is impassioned and brooding, the real treat of Black Ace is his slide guitar playing. His Hawaii-meets-the-Delta playing style is both melodic and passionate, simple yet meaningful. A few instrumental numbers, `Bad Times Stomp,' `Ace's Guitar Blues' and `Ace's Guitar Breakdown,' focus on this aspect and leave questions as to just why this man is not openly enamored by today's guitarists like Ry Cooder and Eric Clapton. With the clear recording of this compact disc, that may change."

I'm glad that you've found the information that I post to be informative.

About that "Am I hot?" question that I asked Brucie...
I remember this question being used in a childhood game to find out if you were close to an object that had been hidden. If you were far away from the object, you were "cold". If you were really far away from it, you were "freezing". If you were close, you were 'hot'. And if you were really close to the hidden object, you were 'burning up'.

However, 'being hot', does have the meaning of looking good doesn't it??

Well, the man I love has told me that I look hot, and his approval in that regards is the only one I want and need. And BTW, he looks hot to me too!

With a voice reminiscent of the late Peggy Cass (of the Mamas and the Papas), Ms. Lang's debut rendition of the traditional 'In the Pines' (popularized by Long John Baldry and accredited to the legendary Lead Belly), as well as covers written by Bonnie Raitt ('Give It Up or Let It Go'), Janis Ian ('Bright Lights and Promises'), and Buffy Sainte-Marie ('Broke Down Girl') are sparkling examples of acoustic brilliance from a long-forgotten era in mainstream radio broadcasting.

There are several outstanding compositions by Canadian and American songwriters, with the title track being composed by Tom Campbell. My favourites are 'Come Across to You', by Bruce Murdoch, 'Howl You Winds', by Chris Rawlings, 'No Place Left to Go', by Chris Kearney, and 'Three O'Clock Ride', by Ronney Abramson.
