Subject: BS: Does size matter?
From: John MacKenzie

I was idly musing about the sexual habits of some folks I know, and it struck me that there appeared to be some relationship between the size of the instrument they play, and the number of times they 'put it about' So this is a survey, to see if there is any truth in my theory.
So come on folks especially you ladies, does the size of the instrument[s] matter?

There was already a thread about this a long time ago. I think it even had exactly the same title.

Does size matter? In short: No, it doesn't. Love matters. Good communication helps a lot too. Mutual respect and affection can do wonders!

(By the way, I'm a male...at the moment. But I've been female in some other lives, so I feel entirely qualified to answer your question. I would happily be female again anytime, because #1 they are beautiful, and #2 they get to wear more a more interesting variety of clothing, at least in this society.)

Like money,it does matter, but, only if you don't have it.

Ah. So how do you know if you don't? ;-) Let's say that someone didn't have it, but didn't know. Would it still matter?

I met a woman who said that ALL men were gigantic (when aroused), and she was in a good postion to know, let me tell you. She definitely got around.

Parlor Guitar ,

Mandolin ,

Ukulele ,

and Charango
have their positive aspects also!!

There are definitely times when small is better. It's more ergonomic. For this reason, I find Guild jumbos not that comfortable to play. Dreadnoughts are okay, but they're approaching the comfortable limits.

"matter"? the very word implies some subjectivity. It does to some, it does not to others. It is sad to listen to those to whom it matters a LOT. These are the women who are having implants. Or the men who are buying 'enlargement aids'.

The only criterion should be if health, comfort and well-being are seriously affected. (I saw a TV documentary about a woman having reduction surgery to go from something like a 60DDDD to a 46D to make walking easier.)

but....sure...lets hear the cute remarks also..*grin*....I have no doubt that many ladies have a passing interest in 'unusual' sizes, even if they don't actively seek them.

(Me? I'm absolute average, and have never had a complaint...yet...) (maybe it's because I have always picked polite ones ..*grin*)

Size? Phuh! It can be the biggest one in the world but if it's a bodhran - you're on your own!

Besides... it's not how big it is, but how well you play it that matters!

And how often you practice.......

A good sized instrument can be delightful, if played properly - but if the room's not warmed up first, it can be like a spear, invasive and not particularly special. It's like a Martin guitar in the hands of an inept player. A smaller but wide intrument can be very satisfying and comforting.

But a musician who takes time to warm up with his co-musician will find their instrument fits around him perfectly - as both have instruments that are flexible and can be tuned to fit snugly together, whatever the size of each.

The best music I ever made was with a man with a completely average sized instrument, and it was within a very long term relationship with a huge amount of trust, respect, and playfulness. It was within this relationship that those multiple chords were played, and he taught me a whole symphony of enjoyment.

The music is over, but we are still close friends.

Me thinks I detect a little over zellous and unnecessary editing by a clone in adding (instrument) to the title of this thread? I feel John has sufficient command of the english language to have titled this thread EXACTLY how he wanted it to be titled. The resulting doble entendres and inuendo in the responses are, I feel sure, exactly what he hoped to produce:-).

For my part, I play the cello, which is rather on the large side as far as instruments go, though I have to confess that as I have got older, the energy required to pick it up and carry it around is a bit taxing on my physical resources, so now I play the violin. ;-) I did flirt with a Low D whistle for a while, but found it rather limited in performance though it did take up a lot less room. I hope this assists you in your resurch John.

For my part, I play the cello.......

If it were too small, you'd have a viola – too large, you'd have a double bass.

So, yes, size does matter !

Gordon [Bassic] because as someone pointed out my original thread title was almost the same as a previous thread, I first asked that this one be deleted, and then when it had received about 8 posts I suggested the word instrument be added to avoid confusion.
I also play the autoharp which you cuddle and stroke while playing.

Although being a Scot, I'm not sure if he really does have that good a command of the English Language! :]

I've often thought of toying with a hurdygurdy, but the right hand couldn't keep up with the left....
