Subject: Lyr Add: ONE DAY WHEN GOD BEGS MY FORGIVENESS From: Hillheader Date: 27 Nov 05 - 02:11 PM ONE DAY WHEN GOD BEGS MY FORGIVENESS One day when God begs my forgiveness I'll say Yeah, you screwed up, but at least there was the rock n'roll, I lost my cherry to Strawberry Fields Forever, I fell in love to Rubber Soul. One day when God says he wishes things had been different I'll say Mmm, me too, but how 'bout those days we drove the car into the hills? And the view from the very top of Twmbarllwm….. You could hear the wind in the pines if you sat real still. One day when God says That's another fine mess I got you into, I'll say Amen Lord, you really don't say, But thanks I guess for any good times I've forgotten, It's the shit you never forget, ain't it always the way? One day when God don't even recognise his own footprints And the leaves of Eden drip with pesticide I'll still owe him one for that summer I worked the Waltzer…. All the prettiest girls got free rides….. One day when God says he can no longer stand to bear witness And he's saving the last round in the chamber for Himself I'll be parked on some slip-road, drunk and nostalgic For the roads I took when I still cared where I was going.... |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req:Anyone know the name of this song From: GUEST,JFL Date: 28 Feb 08 - 09:06 PM May all your days be filled with grace and beauty and all your nights fly swiftly towards the dawn. May God's great love go with you on your journey and his spirit be in your song. When troubles fall like rain upon your shoulders. When sorrow comes and bends you like a bow. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I need to find a song for a funeral From: GUEST Date: 10 Jul 08 - 12:02 PM Does anyone have the lyrics to "Where the roses never fade" by Linda Sutton. I've searched everywhere and can't find it. I've seen the old version, but I'm looking for her version to sing at a funeral. It's an old recording. Maybe late 80's early 90's. |

Start a thread with the heading Lyric request then add the name of the song you're looking for. That way every one will see your question & you'll get far more responses, here you'll hardly get any Good day & good luck Barry |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I need to find a song for a funeral From: GUEST,Texas Guest Date: 10 Jul 08 - 07:39 PM Funeral songs, well, I can be very "pop" oriented sometimes but the Garth Brooks song, "The Dance," has always worked for me; also, there is a christian/pop singer/songwriter by the name of Bob Bennet who wrote a nice song called - "The Place I Am Bound," and I like it a lot too. It is a kind of up-tempo Celtic influenced view of his wake from the viewpoint of he who died - lamenting the fact that he is not there to share in the festivities, food, tales, drink, etc. Finally, if it can be done, find out what song(s) the deceased liked, and/or what songs the deceased wanted to be played at their funeral and go with that flow. Good Luck. Cheers. |
Subject: Lyr Add: WHERE THE ROSES NEVER FADE From: oldhippie Date: 10 Jul 08 - 10:01 PM For "Guest" - this one? WHERE THE ROSES NEVER FADE I am going to a city, Where the streets of gold are made, Where the tree of life is blooming, And the roses never fade. Here they bloom but for a season; Soon their beauty is decayed. I am going to a city, Where the roses never fade. Loved ones gone to be with Jesus, In their robes of white arrayed. Now are waiting for my coming, Where the roses never fade. Here they bloom but for a season; Soon their beauty is decayed. I am going to a city, Where the roses never fade. Where the roses never fade... Never fade. Janie West Metzgar wrote the lyrics in 1929. Her son, Robert Metzgar composed the music.

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I need to find a song for a funeral From: sing4peace Date: 19 Nov 09 - 08:49 PM the last time I sang for a funeral I sang Malvina Reynolds' "From Way Up Here" It really depends on the person the funeral is about. I've sung "Solidarity Forever" for union activists - "I'll Fly Away" for a pilot - "Last Night I Had The Strangest Dream" for peace activists - "16 Tons" for a friend who never did get out of debt before he died. Of course, this depends on where you are singing. Some churches, temples, etc. are more lenient than others. Some only want you to sing from their official hymn books. I like to hear something that is really about the person being celebrated and mourned. Peace in song, Joyce |
