KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Osama bin Laden is "probably" dead, but former Taliban leader Mullah Omar is alive, Afghan President Hamid Karzai has said.   "I would come to believe that [bin Laden] probably is dead," Karzai said on CNN's "Late Edition" on Sunday.   "But still, you never know. He might be alive. Five months ago, six months ago, I was thinking that he was alive.   "The more we don't hear of him, and the more time passes, there is the likelihood that he probably is either dead or seriously wounded somewhere."

He mentioned that 30 of al-Qa'da fighters attended the burial as well as members of his family and some friends from the Taleban. In the farewell ceremony to his final rest guns were fired in the air.   The official stated that it is difficult to pinpoint the burial location of bin Laden because according to the Wahhabi tradition no mark is left by the grave. He stressed that it is unlikely that the American forces would ever uncover any traces of bin Laden.

I have it from a well known source (CBC)that he is currently living in Toronto under an assumed name, and is drawing unemployment insurance and welfare under several identities.

He was rendered unemployed having been disqualified from running as the next Liberal Candidate for Toronto Danforth. Party officials who remain nameless for security reasons, advised Osama that he might just be recognised even though he planned to campaign wearing designer sunglasses. Paul Martin distanced himself from this candidate after being accused of USA bashing on television.

To compensate Osama, he will probably get nominated for the Order Of Canada by the Governor General, for his compassionate work amongst the Islamic Jihad Brotherhood of the West; or possibly be nominated as the next Canadian Ambassador to Iraq.

Yep, I saw him in Toronto in September '05, he was working as a waiter in the restaurant at the top of the CN Tower. Kept looking out of the windows, kinda nervous.

As I said in the recent Al-Queda thread, even if he is dead--- (which I gather from some of the comments here is not quite established, to put it mildly--it makes little difference. It's only as if the CEO of McDonalds were to die---there are still plenty of franchises all over the world. Probably a lot more since Bush invaded Iraq--with the resulting pictures of dead women and children available for broadcast on al-Jazeera---as I told the White House comment line even before the invasion.

Something which is interesting is the video which was presented just before the president election between George W. Bush and John Kerry.

It was a fake, but it got a lot of attention. John Kerry and George W. Bush commented the video as if it was the real Osama bin Laden who was on the video.

If he is dead or not makes little difference. He is the patron saint of terrorists all over the world.

Eventually al Queda will announce his death in such a way as to make him appear a martyr and his name will remain a potent force.

There is no reason for the Bush administration to pretend that he is alive if they know that he is not. They would make great political hay from the news of his death.

It is only an audiotape, not a video. It is a fake, made by for example CIA or Pentagon.
