Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: mandotim Date: 25 Mar 07 - 07:44 AM I'm starting to get worried about this; the pub is a very small 'two roomer', and fifteen or so people in the larger room is crowded. Good weather means sining in the camping field is ok, but bad weather could make things awkward. Perhaps start a list of who is definitely coming, to get an idea of numbers? I'll probably only be there on Saturday night, with my wife and youngest daughter. Tim |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 25 Mar 07 - 09:09 AM Ossonflags et al, I too am getting a little jittery about the imminent influx of Miskin refugees. Here's another phone no for the cafe. Wardlow Mires Service Station Wardlow Buxton Derbyshire SK17 8RW tel: 01298 872880 Tim's suggestion above makes good sense, & with this info, we may be able to find out if there's alternative, more spacious venue accommodation available around the immediate area. The list of those attending up to now is: Mr & Mrs Happy 2 Anna & Phil 2 Barby & Jim 2 Marilyn 1 John J ? Black Diamond 2 Mandotim 3 Strollin Johnny ? Ossonflags + 10 Grab Carol ? Banjo Ray ? Pilgrim ? Making a provisional total of 28, as the people I've put a ? by means I don't know how many in their respective parties. Could everyone coming please verify & also how many with them, please? |

Wow! http://www.greatbeer.co.uk/derthst.htm I went there last night having read somewhere on the net there was a session on. Alas no session, but what a place! KapoW! I've gotta go in hospital and have a stent put in an artery the week after next - they ain't sure if it will work, but if it does I'm going to take all my mates out there for a mega - session celebration! Meanwhile let me wish you all the best with your event and congratulate you on finding such a place. well done! have a good one! big al whittle |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: terrier Date: 01 Apr 07 - 02:49 PM Hey, I'd love to come along but I ain't got a camper. Anyone with spare bunk in caravan/trailer(for sale or rent)? Mr H. as I recall, that photo is the first time I've seen you without a fag!:) I take it that this pub DOESN'T have a 'SINGING' landlord, unlike the last Mr.H sesh I went to and is anyone there going to own up to spiking said landlords guitar, Hmmmmmm. |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 01 Apr 07 - 07:49 PM terrier, you could always sleep in your car, I've done it piles o' times - very comfy with all the seats down & wrapped up in sleeping bag! |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Carol Date: 02 Apr 07 - 05:25 AM Yes we'll be there on Thursday I've PM'd you Mr Happy |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Grab Date: 02 Apr 07 - 06:08 AM I'll only be there until Sat morning, so that might free up some space on Sat night - still be busy though, by the look of it. Met Office is currently saying the weather will hold dry up to Saturday, but showers will come across during the weekend, so looks like that might work out well for me and my tent. Terrier, Geoff definitely doesn't sing or play guitar, so you're safe there! :-) Graham. |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Black Diamond Date: 03 Apr 07 - 07:41 AM Im packing already! we wont be able to get there much before 9.00 pm on Friday night. will we be able to find the campsite in the dark, and find a space on the site and do we have to book in anywhere????? Lin |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Grab Date: 03 Apr 07 - 08:53 AM BD, it's not a "campsite" campsite, if you see what I mean. It's a field (from which the sheep have hopefully been removed) with a small loo shed in one corner. As you're stood facing the 3 Stags, the camping field is the field next to it on the right - there's a gate about 5-10 yards along from the Stags. It should be easy enough to find though, on account of there being a bunch of tents in there already! The owners are pretty relaxed about it all. If you arrive late, just pay them in the morning. Graham. |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: GUEST,Ray Date: 04 Apr 07 - 12:09 PM Passed the site about an hour ago - no tents yet, just the sheep! |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 04 Apr 07 - 12:10 PM well it's only Wednesday! |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: terrier Date: 04 Apr 07 - 12:59 PM I'm still a little worried about this 'Loo shed'. What colour is it? Does it conform to local bylaws i.e. size and distance from dwellings, adjacency to underground water courses. As this is a mining area, do we know for certain that there is no subsidence in the immediate area? I would hate to think of the shed and several tents/caravans/vardas/teepees disappearing down a large hole and ending up being carried down a comunal water....No, it's too horrible to contemplate. Will there be a supply of gas masks? |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: GUEST,Ray Date: 04 Apr 07 - 01:31 PM I've never noticed the shed and I pass there regularly so it can't be that big. Don't worry about subsidence its not that sort of mining - you're more likely to fall down a pothole or a mineshaft. In fact, a friend of mine from Litton (just over the hill) - we don't talk about him much 'cos he plays the banjo - found a new one last year; only 700+ feet deep though. You could always pitch your tent a couple of hundred yards up the road - nice flat field - used to be the site of a smallpox hospital. |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Grab Date: 04 Apr 07 - 04:14 PM The main bylaw it meets is the "bygumIneededthat" law. Which is the important one after a night partaking of Abbeydale's finest ales. |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: terrier Date: 04 Apr 07 - 04:39 PM SMALLPOX!!!!!! Would that be upwind or downwind of the campsite. Not to put a finer point on it, but some of those small poxes of yesteryear could be still hanging around and by now they would have grown into bloody big poxes. ;D |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 04 Apr 07 - 07:40 PM terrier, Haven't u heard the traditional foke song: 'Little Poxes on the Hillside'? u seem to have quite meticulous requirements, d'ye think perhaps this event may not be for you? But there again if ye do condescend to cum y'd be welcome. BTW, will u be bringing the accordeon, vile inn, gittara, etc? |
