Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 09 Apr 06 - 06:13 AM Splendid news Tim! Its possible that in addition to musing, sining, drinking, & cavorting; there'll be opportunities for the more fit individuals to do some hiking [or rambling - depending on how much brew you had night before!], in the picturesque hills surrounding the campsite. Mrs Happy & fiends are keen on wearing their legs out most weekends, trogging uphill & down dale in all weathers, & she's bought a map of the area yeasterday. So if anyone feels the need of some self torture in this pursuit, feel free to join them. While these extra muriel activities are taking place, myself & the all sining & musing party will be carousing in the pub or on campsite if weather's fine - if not fine in Mr Happy's session tent[loitering within tent?] |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 18 Apr 06 - 07:13 AM Greetings & Many Thanks to all who attended & made the events from Fri night to Sun night so fantastic & memorable. I'm hoping during this summer, me & fiends can get around to your local events, Leek, Ashover etc. Also lots thanks to Mad O'Tim for coercing fellow folky fiends from around his end & elsewhere to come for compulsory hedonism & alcoholic self abuse. Georgie & Jed, I checked out your webpage http://www.eranim.com/home.eranim . Your sesh looks fab! I'll be co-ordinating with Tim to try to fix up a similar event before too long. Once again one & all a BIG CHEERS! & Ta to everybody!! |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: John J Date: 08 Mar 07 - 02:29 AM It was a good do last year, the beer, session and the company were excellent. The food looked v good, we'll try it next time. Shame about the high levels of cigarette smoke....rather limited my singing...mind you, that's probably a blessing! John |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: mandotim Date: 08 Mar 07 - 03:13 AM I'll try to get there, though probably not overnighting. Tim |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Strollin' Johnny Date: 08 Mar 07 - 09:05 AM Another Sinaround! I'll try to get there, I like sinning! :-) |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 08 Mar 07 - 10:42 AM 'Shame about the high levels of cigarette smoke' 'fraid your memory's a bit hazy on that John - not fag smoke - but almost opaque fumes from the two coal fires when the wind was blowing the wrong way. |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Grab Date: 08 Mar 07 - 01:17 PM Very very tempted. Only downside is that our band will likely be having a practise one day that weekend, and I'm not sure I can fit in 3 Stags *and* band *and* continuing married life! :-/ See how it goes anyway. If I do make it there, most likely it'll be up Thursday night and back Saturday morning. Graham. |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mitch the Bass Date: 08 Mar 07 - 01:27 PM I've poted a news item on http://www.derbyfolk.co.uk Mitch |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: John J Date: 08 Mar 07 - 04:32 PM Not THAT hazy...I wasn't touching the 8% stuff! The smoke from the open fires was, er, interesting on the Saturday lunchtime, but had died down by the evening. There were however an awful lot of smokers in the pub on the Saturday evening. It was a good do none-the-less. Roll on July! I look forward to the weekend, hopefully bringing some friends too. John |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 09 Mar 07 - 09:10 AM 'Roll on July!' ?? Easter this year is 6th- 10th April 2007! We'll be at Wardlow from Good Friday 6th April |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 11 Mar 07 - 06:08 AM Hopefully the weather'll be good enough for some al fresco sessions on the campsite - with adequate mistrals to disperse any fumes! |

Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Black Diamond Date: 12 Mar 07 - 04:23 AM Mr Happy would there be room for me and my husband to camp from Friday night to Sunday??? you make this weekend sound really great and we are tempted, but we are quite new to Mudcat and never done this before. do we have to book???? and are there any loos?????????? Lin |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: mandotim Date: 12 Mar 07 - 06:01 AM Without wishing to preempt Mr Happy; there's loads of room providing the sheep have been cleared off the field in time. It's cheap to camp, and cooking is is made largely unnecessary by the excellence of the pub food and the convenience of breakfast at the cafe opposite. Speaking of conveniences; there is a very basic loo on the camping field, and of course the cafe and pub have loos. I've never had to book; turn up and pay at the house (I think it's the one next-but-one to the camping field.) It's great fun, and there is usually some really good music to boot. Hope to see you there. (I'm the one with the wierd looking guitar and even wierder mandolin!) Tim |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 12 Mar 07 - 07:12 AM Black Diamond you're more than welcome- bring instruments, voices & your very good company! Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Mr Happy Date: 12 Mar 07 - 07:33 AM Carol not sure about Thursday, if we can get there then, I'd love to, but it depends on other partly members finishing work etc.- so main gang'll prob be there Friday afternoon. maybe other folks will have landed by Thur & the campsite's open all year round - no need to book. As the pub: Three Stags Heads is only open on Bank Hols & weekends, it'd be best to check with Geoff the landlord first. The phone No. is 01298 872268 http://www.greatbeer.co.uk/derthst.htm |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Carol Date: 12 Mar 07 - 07:37 AM Thanks We'll get over on Thursday, early to avoid Bank Holiday traffic and being 'people of leisure' these days. Then we'll just wait to see if anything happens! |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: Black Diamond Date: 12 Mar 07 - 09:12 AM well with all those facilities - cold water AND a loo!! how can we not go, but as my hsuband cant finish work till 6.oo on Friday we wont arrive till late on Friday night - would that be a problem????? Lin |
Subject: RE: Easter MudFolk Peak District:Come on! From: mandotim Date: 12 Mar 07 - 09:37 AM Only a problem in the sense of putting the tent up in the dark surrounded by drunken folkies offering advice.... Tim |
