I have reached the point where I am in need of some help. My doctor has prescribed Viagra, but it is quite expensive (but worth it). I was wondering if any male Catters have had any experiences with generic viagra ordered online from foreign countries (I live in the USA). This is not an attempt to start a new thread of jokes - I am seeking some honest feedback from a group whose opinions I value and trust. Thanks.

I'd suggest that if you have the sort of all too common health conditions
that can cause a need for viagra [heart / high blood pressure / diabetes / etc..]

then maybe you you strongly consider the possible adverse side effects
that taking viagra can be linked to [ strokes / death / ];
ie.. if the underlying health condition becomes seriously aggreivated by viagra..

I've never needed it yet, but I would suggest that unless there's some overriding medical reason for using it, it would be better to address the underlying problems- make sure it's not fatigue, anxiety, circulatory trouble, stress, even the wrong partner- and sort that out first.

The question was about "generics". As the drug is still under license, these don't genuinely exist. Given the market they sell into, it seems highly unlikely that the saving will be genuine.

I thought that there were countries that have allowed companies to flourish because of their lax licensing laws. But given the kind of drug in question there is a lot of money to be made by people and that attracts con artists.

isn't Viagra something "cialis" - certainly early spam checkers used to chuck out e-mails with "Specialist" in the subject because of the "contained" word.

There are several products (besides Viagra) that purport to do the same thing...Cialis (also a brand name) is another. The buy-outside-the-US advantage, if you deal with someone reputable, isn't buying generics, since these are all still under patent protection. Rather, it is that most nations won't allow the gawd-awful markups that drug companies get here.

Recently there have been concerns about sudden irreversible blindness from taking erectile dysfunction drugs. There has been no discernable pattern to this. The manufacturers are, of course, looking into this very carefully.

Sure, go ahead and buy it. It'll either be the very same stuff you'd pay a lot more for at your local CVS pharmacy, or it'll be totally bogus fake crap. But, hey, even if it's fake it'll probably still work because of the good ol' Placebo Effect.

Personally, I'd be a lot more concerned about giving them a credit card number than whether or not the drug's legit.

An article in the local rag a few weeks ago reported an "investigation" of a fair number of "discount drug" web ands and email spam ads, and concluded that nearly all of the ones they ordered and tested were total phonies. A few contained trace amounts of "something resembling" the advertised drug - the closest any of them came to delivering what was ordered; and a few more contained small amounts of what might have been "herbal ingredients" that might have been something reputed to have vaguely similar effect.

Not a good risk, IMO.

Let's hope the manufacturers don't over-use their own product - or they will have difficulty looking into this.

As I recall Viagra works by constricting capilliaries - and there are a lot of them in the eye. But then most users are already suffering the ravages of time and are probably wearing-out in other places.

Foreign pharmacies shipping "generic" or name-brand drugs at a discount are, IMO, more risky than taking the genuine thing! I must get 50 SPAMS a week from so-called "safe, foreign pharmacies" (usually Mexico, or former Communist block countries) because I order a generic nicotine gum from an Australian place-which is truly legit, and the gum beats the crap Walmart sells by a mile, and is better the Nicorette. ANYWAY--the legit pharmacies won't sell a "generic Viagra" as I don't think there is one (is there?), or hydrocodone, or oxycontin, etc.

Caveat Emptor is for sure something to keep in mind! You might poison yourself, or at best get ripped off and someone has your credit card. Just be careful out there...and consult with your physician!

A mate of a mate is involved in the "industry". Apparently in most parlours in the U.K. they sell a generic viagra called "CAMAGRA".

Start with checking out what's between a female's legs. If you can't look at it, taste it, smell it, enjoy it, you might as well just give up.

I would disagree - not all erectile dysfunction is between the ears. Some, maybe but (statistically) most smokers and excessive drinkers eventually meet this problem. It is all to do with the clogging of the arteries I think. Capilliaries clog-up sooner and the blood channels in the penis are more like a sponge - imagine a sponge laden with thick grease. graphic - what?

I have read the reports of Viagra pontentially causing blindness, but in my opinion, this only happens when you use Viagra and DON'T have a sexual partner...hell, we've all known that causes blindness since we were kids.

A doctor friend of mine used to proscribe 1/8 viagra tablet a night to a couple in there eighties and they swore blind that it worked for them!
Apparently it was just enough to stop him roling out of bed during the night!

Here in The United sates, all three manufacturers of ED drugs (Cialis, Viagra, Levitra) offer free Trial Prescriptions. If you only want to try the drugs out, you could get a free trial prescription for each one or just the one you want to try by going the the manufacterer's website and clicking on their latest offers.

I help eldery and financially challenged people get low-cost and no-cost name brand drugs through a variety of programs offered by the Big Pharma companies. My expertise is in USA offers though. Even so, I am sure ith a little effort, I could find you some links to offers in other countries if need be. PM me.

I would be happy to help ANY Mudcatter in need of a ANY brand name drug. The companies all use a variety of free promotional offers to try and reach potential patients and these offers can really help folks with no insurance or limited insurance. I recently helped a gal I know get a free month's supply of Prevacid (heartburn med) AND better yet, hook her up with a $20 rebate for her next RX.

Many brand name drugs also have Frequent Buyer plans. Viagra has one of these where every 7th RX is free. I'm sure Levitra and Cialis must have similar programs.

One more thing if in the USA - simply ASK your doc for free samples. My doctor gives me free samples of Imitrex every time I see him. He can't give the spray form away to anyone else, so I get them all. Most people prefer the pills or injections. When he opened his sample cupboard, I was amazed to see all that was there. He had a STACK a mile high of Viagra and Levitra.

If you have a good relationship with your doctor and he/she knows you are strapped for cash and/or that your Insurance doesn't cover brand names, they will often gladly give you samples if you ask and if the drug is appropriate for you. In addition, if you eventually do very well on the drug you ask for, you can let your doc know you'd appreciate them laying in a supply a samples for your future use. My Doc makes sure he asks the Glaxo Rep for a goodly number of Imitrex nasal Sprays now that he knows I need them and that they are not covered by my insurance. He also stocks up on various Birth Controll Pill brands for his patients who cannot get their insurance to cover those prescriptions.

It's something of a secret that most brand name drugs can be had for free here in the USA. If you truly are indigent, all companies have programs to give away brand name drugs to poorer or uncovered patients. There are ads on TV all the time for Con artists who will charge you to 'apply' for these programs. In fact, there are charities that will help you apply for free.
