I'm afraid the Archers has been captured by a bizarre team from the Department of Emotional Literacy and Soap Studies at the University of Dudley. Hence the rather ridiculous story lines that are currently being broadcast, which bear no relation to what is actually happening in Ambridge: where things are actually chugging on fine. Ed is quietly working for Oliver, having the occasional pint with Jazzer. Alistair is carrying on being a boring vet, and Matt Crwaford, of course, does not exist, he is a figment of the Story Book Villains Editor's imagination.

Slightly off topic: Shula's acceptance of Alistair's confession and associated debt 'it's OUR problem now etc' seems to me to be really out of character.

These coded directions, when the code is cracked, lead the investigators to the giant painting of "Leda and the Swan"by Alfred Penney-Hasset, the prominent Borsetshire Victorian artist.
