"Name That Mudcatter" is a game to test your knowledge about Mudcat posters.

Here's how it's played:

Someone posts an information tidbit about a Mudcat member [or regular posting Guest]. The person starts of with "Name that Mudcatter who..." [or "Name that Mudcat Guest who"]..

Someone else guesses who that Mudcat member is.

The person who post the answer should cut & paste the statement that s/he is responding to. Not doing so would cause confusion about which "Name that Mudcatter who" post the person is responding to.

Here's an easy example:

Name the Mudcatter who refers to the "Ginny Slide Rule".

Answer: Bobert

-snip-

I think that this game could be fun. It also could help Mudcat newbies [and not so newbies] become familiar with the people in our neighborhood [cue the Sesame street song]...

Do you wanna play?

I hope so.

But me first!

Okay, here's another real easy one:

Name the Mudcatter from Canada whose name rhymes with "who".

One more from me [I think this one is easy too]:

{note the slightly different wording}

Name the female Mudcat member who championed the cause of astrology on a recent long running Mudcat thread about that subject.

Extra points if you also name the male Mudcatter who also championed the cause of astrology on that same long running thread.

Gnu sounds like who.

Daylia did the astrology thing, but I'm not sure who the male Mudcatter was who also championed the cause of astrology.

"Name the Catter who sings sea shanties" I'm sure several have mentioned doing that, Charlie Noble for one, but don't know if he's the one with an artist mother.

"name the male Mudcatter who also championed the cause of astrology on that same long running thread"

Well, you may not be able to automatically think of his name, but I think daylia would say that the Catter I'm thinking of was also an astrology resource on that thread.

JennyO's answer "282RA" is who I was thinking of when I asked the question: Name the poster who writes quotation marks like this << >>

That answer is not for "Who idolizes Don Cherry and often gets free room and board in large establishments".

I don't know the answer to that one and I didn't know the answer to most of the questions asked so far...

One thing I am learning from this game is that Mudcatters are some interesting folk.

I already knew that but it's being reinforced by this thread.

Subject: RE: BS: Name That Mudcatter

Time Out.

Here's a housekeeping reminder:

Please connect your response to the question or statement that you are responding to [by either cut & pasting that question/statement or somehow referring to it].

For instance by referring to the poster by name and his or her number system for that question or like this:

Subject: RE: BS: Name That Mudcatter
From: JennyO - PM
Date: 22 Jun 06 - 10:40 PM

Who makes a living cracking cases and likes mysterious women with long legs?

Chongo Chimp

[though JennyO's question was in italics, and I haven't got the hang of how to make those italics]

And btw, if you end your post with your name, like someone did whose name I won't mention, but it starts with "J" and ends with "y", it looks like you're responding to your own question/statement.

And 9 times out of 10 that means you'd be giving the wrong answer...so ending your posts with your name probably isn't a good idea for this thread...

Any other game playing rules or suggestions or modifications would be greatly appreciated.

A--- oops, I forgot what I wrote already!

:o))
