A coworker went home to England for a vacation/family visit. She asked if I had any requests from across the pond. I said I'd like a good-looking, wealthy, folk musician.

She brought me fudge from Cornwall, instead.

P'raps this is one of those "choose two" things, you know, like "fast, cheap, or good" -- you can't get all three at once.

And of course, complicating it even further, there's the assumed 4th characteristic, too, "single."

There are probably laws restricting the export of any qualifying goods.

I could drop "wealthy"... as long as I could get one that was reasonably self-supporting...

Is it really too much to ask?

A couple of years back I asked my secret Santa for a man (with some specifications, of course). I got one - made of plastic, runs on batteries, never leaves the toilet seat up, and offers to massage my feet regularly.

I am still looking for a banjo player with a job - which is why I stay single.

Banjo players are human! I've even known some who can speak in complete sentences!

I don't know . . . a little bit of fudge covers a multitude of shortcomings. I can think of a few guys I would have at least given a second chance had they put even that much thought into it. Come to think of it, i might have given them a second chance if they had been banjo players.



On the other hand, if I'm meeting guys who can't afford fudge and don't even play the banjo, I probably need to rethink my dating criteria.
