I'm going to be busy crocheting the next couple of weeks!

I'm going to put this post on any threads that might produce results for forgive me for multi-posting.

We are going to arrange for a raffle at the Getaway to raise funds for Pene. What we need are items to be put into the raffle so, if you have anything suitable and are either coming to the Getaway or can get the item to me or to someone who is coming to the Getaway please let me know and I can include it in the list of prizes that I'll be putting together over the next two weeks.

If you want any further info PM me.

A reminder to one and all--

The Deadline is rapidly approaching

By this coming weekend, the FSGW (actually, me) is going to have to tell the camp how many meals to prepare, and our housing chair (not me) is going to have to figure out how to best fit attendees into the 202 beds available.

LAST CALL

If you're coming, please let us know. Send an email to our registrar that he should expect your registration form. Or PM me. But let us know if you can come.

Li'l RObert: We been known to do some blues at the Getaway, and it does raise the roof a bit when we do it indoors.

But, as they say, man shall not live on blues alone...

Thanks for the invitation. But I now live in Chicago. I've been here for the past five years. Chicago is a great Blues city. I have yet to explore the blues community here. It's strange that I would end up making Chicago my home. I really didn't want to move here but a girl friend who is now my wife talked me into it. I want to become more active in the blues community and I figured the best place to start is here at Mudcat. My uncle loved Chicago so much that he wrote a song about it. The first time I saw the lake front.....I understood why. Thanks for remembering me. Robert

Cheeses is not mine ( I wish it was). It is in the DT database.

However, this is one of mine...

(To the tune of " Let Union Be")

Come all you who would be flatter,
Raise your forks and pass the platter:
For to live is to grow fatter
        While we are together.

CHORUS:        Let onions be in all our stews:
Let all our stews be made with wine.
We'll show them all just how to dine:
We'll end each meal with chocolate.
Right fol de rol de ri too ra li do
Right fol de rol de ri too ra li do
Right fol de rol de ri too ra li do
                While we are together.

        Eating and drinking are quite charming;
Cakes and ice cream there's no harm in.
All these things we take delight in
        While we are together.

        CHORUS:

Grab the platter as it passes:
Join with us at all repasses.
Those who diet are but asses
        While we are together.

        CHORUS:

I don't know "Cheeses" was written by BeardedBruce, but I know he is the author of that great Getaway food song (from some time in the 1980's?) of which the chorus is:

Let Onions Be in all our stews,
Let all our stews be made with wine,
We'll show the world just how to dine
We'll end each meal in choc'late!

WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN CHEESES

What a friend we have in cheeses,
Mozzarella, Cheddar, Swiss!
Bleu and Limberger's sweet breezes
Lingering like a lover's kiss.
Humble milk's apotheosis,
Muenster, Provolone, Brie
Damn cholesterol's thrombosis
Cheese is Gouda stuff by me!

Heed the U. S. Dairy Council,
Keep the Gruyere on the shelf.
Even just a tiny ounce'll
Give you vitamin B-12.
Gather, pilgrims at the deli
Buying Edam and Havarti,
Wedges moist and cold and smelly,
Bring home lots and have a party!

BUT Salmon and Chocolate are the featured vices of this Getaway- All other vices are welcome, but will be considered unfeatured....

"That artisan cheese from Italy may be a snap to find and buy on the Internet, but U.S. Customs and Border Protection could seize your purchase because certain regulations prohibit the importation of dairy products from particular countries without a permit."

Check first.

Carole,

Will the airlines let you carry cheese? Real Cheshire cheese is one of my favorite things, and it is hard to come by here, and hideously expensive when found. If I have to pay a fortune for the priviledge, I would be much happier knowing that the money will go to bring good folks to next year's Getaway! Or is there some amazing Welsh cheese that we never even see here?

In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing you.

Carly

Uncle Joe's Mint Balls, Carole! Teresa Tooley gave us a tin of them the first time the Shellbacks came over, and I've become addicted to them... I don't think the airport police will classify them as a liquid or a cream, but the metal tin might make them nervous...

Looking forward to the Getaway!

Especially since, a few grueling business trips notwithstanding, I'm not working 60+ hours a week and pulling my hair out like I was last year. I had a reasonably OK time, but not as good a time as previously. Because I'd been working so much OT and was generally distracted, I hit the Getaway woefully unprepared and under-practiced, plus was so exhausted I pretty much crashed out after the Saturday night concert.

This year I should be able to concentrate on polishing off old songs and hopefully even learning some new ones! Also might even not turn into a pumpkin at midnight...

I wish all of those who go have the best time ever. I hope the new site is great and the weather is incomparable. Good luck to you who do the work and those who will enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Thanks for the zoom of the area Bill D. I could navigate the twists & turns but my baby brother said stealing his boat wasn't written into the Bible or the Constitution so it'd have to be "over his dead body". Bye-bye baby brother.

I'll be looking to car pool with anyone willing, going from NH or Boston & back again. At least 3 days longer doesn't matter. Can share all expenses & driving. Yes, I can drive now, again? The Dr.s said that I'm medicated now so it's ok or was that I'm ok now that I'm medicated or was it I'm ok to medicate?

Charlie--(and/or Joe et. al.) I'm wondering, would this thread best be left to deal with logistics, requests, program, etc? That might keep important information more accessible. Another thread could be started for peoplw to Check in, communicate more directly with each other. commisserate, dream about.

Or not.

Just an idea to consider.
