Oh, had I a golden thread And needle so fine I've weave a magic strand Of rainbow design Of rainbow design. And it's Pete Seeger's birthday as well! Robyn |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Ebbie Date: 05 May 10 - 07:17 PM I treasure mine too. I wear it especially when I need just a bit of warmth in front of a breezy open window. Thank you, Jacqui, I like thinkin' on it. By the way, I just came back from the link of Mary demonstrating the proper way to wear a circular shawl. Perfect. |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Janie Date: 05 May 10 - 06:28 PM Or should that say crocheted? |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Janie Date: 05 May 10 - 06:18 PM My mother is a recent recipient of a lovely, creamy yellow shawl knit by Jacqui, accompanied by a note that it was loaded with Mudcat hugs. The thoughtfulness of Jacqui, in making and and sending it, and to be told that there are folks on Mudcat regarding them with care and concern brought tears to both of their eyes. |

Soft and warm. MMario's shawl is like a blanket - I live in it at work where we are air conditioned 12 months a year. Mermaids' Tails in wonderful shades of sea green. |

Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Stilly River Sage Date: 24 Jan 10 - 11:19 PM Good thing Kat linked to this--since LilyFestre is now a member of the Mudcat shawl club. (I have one, but I bought it in a Mudcat auction. And I sent one to my Secret Santa one year. Barbry, as I recall.) SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: wysiwyg Date: 30 Sep 09 - 04:16 PM Our band's founder Ed's wife Edith died a few weeks ago. He could use one if there are any loose. Her last cogent wish before Alzheimer's took her mind was that we keep him playing, so the music connection would mean a lot to him. He has a lot of gigs coming up, but nights are long and his adult son just left so he's more alone now. I'm braiding a rug, but that's already spoken for. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: VirginiaTam Date: 30 Sep 09 - 03:21 PM Using mine for the first time, right now. |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: mouldy Date: 15 Aug 09 - 02:52 PM I'd like to add a (very) belated thank you from little Freya who has a very pretty shawl/blanket, which arrived shortly after she was born. My red one's off to Whitby, as usual. Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: VirginiaTam Date: 15 Aug 09 - 12:47 PM Wheeeee! As of today, I am a bona fide member of the jacqui.c shawl club. It's a wonderful anthracite grey/black. And I am just chuffed to bits. I keep holding up, trying to work out how she started and finished it. I have already scolded TheSilentOne for getting his white whiskers on it. Just amazed she had time and thought to do this considering all she and Kendall have been through and are going through these last several months. Thank you so much Jacqui. |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: SINSULL Date: 21 May 09 - 08:06 AM I have a huge assortment now. Several in shades of green, blue chenille, a red, a white (the infamous "How do you wear a round shawl" shawl. |

Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: My guru always said Date: 21 May 09 - 04:50 AM Looks like jacqui has done it again, Cats has one now! I'm sure I saw that someone else received one recently too! I'm still very glad of my shawl, very comforting, thanks jacqui! Hil x |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: mouldy Date: 07 Jun 08 - 02:32 PM I'd just like to add that one of Jacqui's creations is now in New Zealand. As the recipient is rather small, and the weather is turning cold, she's got a lovely shawl-sized blankie instead! I just wish I'd taken my shawl out, as a mere cardigan wasn't up to the early morning temperature of the house! Andrea |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 07 Jun 08 - 08:06 AM I took my Jacqui shawl to Seattle for my dad's funeral and wrapped up in it every day, warmed and comforted. I still have my MMario shawl and still find comfort in its warmth and brightess, too. Maybe I'll start knitting shawls again now that I'm going to have a little more time (so she said)! |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: katlaughing Date: 07 Jun 08 - 12:06 AM Folks, MMario has done it, again. I wrote to him last winter, during a very busy time, to ask if he would make a shawl for Night Owl and how much money he would need for the supplies, his time, etc. When her house burnt to the ground it was before the shawl thing really got started and she's had all kinds of other things come about which have kept her offline for several years. Anyway, our Gallant Gentleman that he is, MMario, offered to make her one gratis. She is THRILLED with it. Perfect colour, design, softness, all those MMario specialities which we all love. And, a beautiful way for her to still feel connected and to feel the warmth and caring which she knew when she told us her story in her A Mudcatter's Thank You threads. Thanks, again, MMario. You really are a wonder. And, Jacqui, don't think I haven't thought of you, too, sweetie. Check your PMs. My Morgan had a delightful nap today wrapped in my shawl which you made, at his request. I'll take a picture next time! Thanks, you two!! luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 28 Apr 07 - 06:57 AM Don't know how I missed this one. I'm an early recipient- back in the autumn of '04, when I needed it most, a secret cabal of Mudcat carers sent me a lovely, brilliant green MMario creation. It still sits tucked next to my pillow and is the one (of all the shawls I own)that I reach for when reading in bed- it feels like a soft, warm embrace. |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Zany Mouse Date: 28 Apr 07 - 06:56 AM I'm a very lucky Catter. I received a beautiful hug-shawl from Jacqui when I came out of hospital. Gorgeous blues - my fav colour. Mine will emigrate to France to live in my old cottage in Lower Normandy. It will be much needed there and can be used by visiting Catters too. I can see myself wrapped in it and sitting in front of a roaring log fire with a glass of something nice. I'll raise a glass to the lovely Jacqui too. Maybe we should all get together sometime and wear our shawls. Rhiannon |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: GUEST,Partridge Date: 28 Apr 07 - 01:54 AM I have a lovely black, cosy shawl - thank you Jacqui Pat x |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: CarolC Date: 28 Apr 07 - 01:12 AM A beautiful natural cotton (or perhaps ecru?) shawl/table runner from MMario which if I remember correctly was a wedding present for me and Jack the Sailor (way back in '02). I'm really glad I saw this thread - a good reminder that this is the right time of year to start wearing it again. I believe I will wear it to my next gallery opening. |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Stilly River Sage Date: 27 Apr 07 - 11:52 PM So now are you all agreeing that you have shawls or toilet paper roll covers? Too many indistinct pronouns in the last few posts. Has there been a flurry of "loo" product crocheting that we're not aware of? SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: wysiwyg Date: 27 Apr 07 - 10:54 PM I used to get the home-made Catters, but they were too expensive. Now I buy the machine-mades, in bulk packs, at Sam's Club. I didn't know I was supposed to put cosies on 'em though. Love to see THAT at Getaway-- Catter-cosies all in a row. ~S~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: Janie Date: 27 Apr 07 - 08:27 PM I too have been a recipient of one of Jacqui's lovely shawls, lovingly crocheted in the name of all of mudcatdom to wrap me in hugs and wishes for well-being during tough times. A treasure of and for the heart.... Janie |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: ranger1 Date: 27 Apr 07 - 07:25 PM Oh, Jacqui, but it is on display in the bathroom. Jason had to turn its face to the wall, though. |
Subject: RE: BS: Handmade Catters Shawl Recipients Club From: MBSLynne Date: 27 Apr 07 - 03:38 PM I have a lovely lacey brown shawl from Jacqui which is draped over my dressing table mirror when I haven't got it on. Anazing...it hugs you when you just look at it. I also have a fawny coloured crocheted loo roll cover that a friend's mother-in-law made and the friend gave me as a bathroom warming gift when I had a bathroom built on to my house years ago. (She WAS joking, though her mother-in-law didn't realize) Love Lynne |
