Origins of: Found on Mudcat -PART TWO

14 Dec 01 - 02:06 PM (#609797)
Subject: Origins of: Found on Mudcat -PART TWO
From: katlaughing

George Seto's original thread: Origins of: Found on Mudcat is getting a bit long, so here's a fresh one to post your links and comments.

BTW: this symbol, ^^^ , means I have transferred your link from this to the permathread. So I don't get confuzzled.:-)

Don't forget, we now have a Song Origins PermaThread, where your contributions will be added to the alphabetised list.

Thanks!

kat

Kat and George, the list is useful in another way. I ran across Oh, Dem Golden Slippers! on the American Memory site. The song is in neither the DT nor the thread put in your permathread, so I added it to the thread you cited. It is now easier to make additions and corrections, at least to those songs on your list.

Dicho, please submit them, exactly as the thread is named. I like to keep the links literal, BUT you could put the real song title in parantheses. In the case of the Weary song being added to that thread, I see two options: 1) I will cross-reference with both titles 2) you could copy and paste the Weary song info into its own thread and I could link to it.

If any of you would prefer I do it a different way, please let me know. I am always open to suggestions.:-)

Thanks, I will add the newest later today.

Kat and George, after seeing the post in the permathread on links in postings, maybe you need a disclaimer: Not responsible for any failure to communicate with links outside Mudcat. No warranty is provided, either express or implied. Use these links at your own risk!
I'll try to invent some history and discussion for Banks of the Roses. (Let's see now; at the next Tournament of Roses Parade...)

Good find, SP! Thanks.

Dicho, my head is really dull right now, please explain? Are you referring to my posting to MaryinKY about an outside link in one of the song threads linked into the permathread? If so, as I said, broken links, in general, should be reported on the Help Forum page. I am MOST concerned with the actual links in the alphabestised list. If any of them are broken, I would like to know about asap. Is this what you meant?

Thanks,

kat

Subject: RE: Origins of: Found on Mudcat -PART TWO
From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca

Dicho, my idea was to track threads within the Forum, and any links outside of Mudcat proper would have to be within the proper thread, rather than in this set of links. WE can open it up to links out of Mudcat, if people like.

Kat, I'm assuming that maybe a general one, which perhaps needs to be put into a general thread on Permathreads, if there is such.

Thanks Simon Pierre, that's a good one.

Subject: RE: Origins of: Found on Mudcat -PART TWO
From: Dicho (Frank Staplin)

Kat and George, I guess my humor ain't humorous; don't take it literally. One post seemed to complain that an outside link in one of the song threads wasn't working. Of course, you can't do anything about it; facetiously I was just suggesting one of those disclaimers you get with some purchases. You can't guarantee outside links that are in the posts on a thread.
Now you don't think I was serious about inventing a history for Banks of the Whatzis?
