Having failed to make it to the next town, Shane camps out in an old barn shortly after sunset. He is cold, hungry, miserable...and worst of all, he is sober! A hellish experience.

His companions are a number of mice and a very wary barn cat who is hunting the mice. Shane burrows his way into a pile of hay and finally manages to fall asleep. He is awoken some time later by the doleful howling of two cats...two cats who appear to be having a disagreement about something. The howling gets louder and louder. Shane has straw dust in his nose and eyes. He wonders if he is hallucinating? If so, why could he not hallucinate a more entertaining scene, he wonders...like the stripper's dressing room at the Atherley Arms? The cats sound like they are just about ready to get serious and launch into round 1. They're working themselves up to a level of total ferocity and kamikaze-level destruction. The anticipation of when it may actually happen is like listening to nails scratching on a blackboard.

This could be what hell is like, eh?
