Yep, Catspaw, it's fun to think that a candidate can make a difference, but in the end it makes no nevermind, the 'system' is on autopilot. Innocents like Amos will always be disappointed.
I remember Roosevelt was the last President who tried to change the step, but in the end, much of his alphabet soup was declared unconstitutional or got deep-sixed soon after his death. It took WW2 to turn the economy around and restart growth with real jobs once again. True, some of the make work jobs helped the parks, etc., and put beans in stomachs, but the country was marking time, without growth.
Globalization is restructuring the world, but our kids are not being educated sufficiently to meet the challenge, and differing views on social structure are colliding with little attempt to foster compromise and tolerance.
