The closest to "feck" in the Irish language is "feckim", meaning I see. "Thing" as Gaeilge is rud Bendy's conversation with his Londoner friend, is quite the norm. Many people outside these Islands do not realise how prolific profanity is in the day to day conversations of ordinary folk in Ireland and Britan. There are countless people I know who insert the word "fuckin'" at least once in every sentence they speak. If they were told to stop using the word they would not be able to speak. Austin Powers certainly popularised the word "shag" in the US but it is used over here as part of everyday speech. Despite it's sexual connotations, hag is a bit like feck in that it is not a very profane word and might occassionally pop up in "polite" company. Frank
