Nobody has yet mentioned the Everly Brothers atrocious "Ebony Eyes", which is about a wedding day and a plane crash. It was written by John D.Loudermilk, (of Tobacco Road" fame), who should have known better. The Swedish entry to the Eurovision Song Contest of 1973 contained the line,"Your breasts are like swallows nests", which must make it a heavyweight contender for any bad songwriting award.I wonder if anyone has any further information about this milestone of incompetence. You Americans quite rightly ignore The Eurovision Song Contest, which is one of the qualities which I admire most about your country!
