One more thing, I did find a reference to him in a local directory, in 1876. I tried to copy the image here but it won't let me.
So here's a transcription:

Geghegan, Joseph B, manager Theatre of Varieties; ho 19 Portugal street

That's in Bolton in 1876. I've not had much look workign out what was at this address, but I'm guessing someone on here might know?
