DTG - As I mentioned in previous threads, when I was 18 my mum revealed my 'true' ancestry on her side, and I discovered I had a Jewish grandad of Eastern European decent [ who I would never have any contact with, to avoid family upset ]. All my mum knew was that he was probably born in England, but his parents came here escaping a pogram. They might have been Russian or Polish. History makes such details vague, and ever shifting national borders can become meaningless. Much later, a few years before she died, my sister became an early recreational internet adopter, and hooked up with a Jewish family tree network. So now I know fairly certainly that they were Polish, but....????
