Laughing at someone saying Norma Waterson "can't sing" in this thread. She has a very fine English folk voice. I frequently come across old recordings of folk singers who were said to be legendary in their circle, and have thought "my god, this person really cannot hold a note or a tune to save their life" and in fact sometimes I've even thought it was a quite horrible, scratchy sound. But Norma Waterson can most definitely hold a note and can articulate a melody very well. No she doesn't have the same kind of highly technical, smooth as butter ornamentation style that June Tabor has. But they are completely different kinds of folk singer. It's like trying to compare Suzi Quatro with Joni Mitchell.
