Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: katlaughing Date: 22 Apr 11 - 05:51 PM Oh, you dear, dear folk, it is with great pleasure that I bring you this report: the blood gas measurement showed "vast improvement" today and the doc says to keep doing whatever I am doing to make it so! I have lost another eleven pounds since seeing him 12 days ago, which is good because it was water weight. He kept the scary stuff low-key today, focussing instead on the positives I reported and he saw. I don't mean to make light of something so serious, but I do accept peace and love, now, and so it is. Just 2-3 weeks ago, they told me I could pass on any minute. Good friends and family begged to differ and gave me the courage and strength to carry on, making peace with meds I didn't like and docs I didn't trust, at first. I am most grateful. I open my heart and send Love everywhere, but esp. to you, my dear, dear friends. Thank you, so much! luvyakat |

Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: katlaughing Date: 21 Apr 11 - 03:01 PM BTW, forgot to say all good thoughts and support appreciated for tomorrow's doc's appt. wherein he reveals the new CT scan and other stuff since starting all of the new treatments. I KNOW it's going to be good because I have improved SO much and I am trying to live in the NOW, this moment and not get ahead of myself, but that little niggle of anxiety still comes up now and then. The changes have been fairly dramatic. Since starting on new meds and the bi-pap, I have done a lot of "firsts in I don't know how long" i.e. washed dishes, cleaned out the frig, pitched a baseball for Morgan, walked across the soccer field from Morgan's game, walked over an hour in the grocery store, swept the front steps and sidewalk, started a sidewalk/stair lap program...slow and steady AND played my dulcimer! Not 2-3 days before the meds and bi-pap, I was literally at the lowest I've felt in years and years. I am most gratefull for the upswing! Thanks for all of your help. luvyakat |
Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: katlaughing Date: 21 Apr 11 - 02:53 PM Why dewya think they gave me Revatio aka viagra?!**bg** BTW, Night Owl scooped you on this; she told me about it last week.LOL! |
Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: catspaw49 Date: 21 Apr 11 - 02:34 PM I think I found a possible cause for the RLS. Tell Rog to get it in gear!!! ScienceDaily (Dec. 17, 2008) — Persistent imminent orgasms in women are associated with restless legs and overactive bladder. This is the result of research by the Utrecht University and The Hague's HagaHospital. Neuropsychiatrist Dr. Marcel Waldinger and his colleagues studied 18 Dutch women with Persistent Sexual Arousal Syndrome (PSAS) and recently published their results in the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Women affected by this rare and mysterious syndrome experience persistent genital sensations as if they are continuously on the verge of an orgasm. All participants received in depth interviews and various medical examinations such as MRI-scans of the brain and pelvis. The study showed that most women in this research also had restless legs, symptoms of an overactive bladder and pelvic varicosis. "These results are a very important breakthrough in the research of this syndrome and show that this is a real physical disorder", Waldinger emphasizes. So did you forget to tell the Docs you are oversexed as well????? Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: katlaughing Date: 10 Apr 11 - 02:39 PM I am glad to hear that, Sins! It should be in sometime near the first of the week, next. The O2 people know it is a critical, i.e. STAT, prescription and so will bring it as soon as they have it. NOT to make light of any of what I and many others have been going through, but I do see some humour in this (for me, at least:) The new 3x's per day med is Revatio which is an original drug developed to treat pulmonary hypertension...it just happened to have an unexpected, multi-billion dollar side effect which became known as "Viagra!" I've already heard one Mudcatter joke that my body will be so stiff I won't be able to bend. Not!**bg** It is good to have a little to laugh about in all of this. And, no, my Rog is NOT borrowing any from me!(Corrected after DougR's sharp observation.:-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: SINSULL Date: 10 Apr 11 - 02:18 PM I think you are right about the bpap. I know many people who felt better the first night they used one. When does yours arrive? SINS |
Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: katlaughing Date: 10 Apr 11 - 11:49 AM The first night of the RLS med, I woke at 3a hurting terribly, I think from not moving enough. If I stay in one position too long, things get really tight. So, I got up and hobbled around hoping I had not done soft tissue damage to my feet the day before on the treadmill at the doc's. I was able to get back to sleep about 430a until 7 and it was a deep sleep so that was nice. The next morning, yesterday, I took the first of three daily doses of a new med and about an hour later couldn't stay awake and had a terrible muscle cramp across my neck and shoulders. Back to bed for an hour's nap. Called the pharmacist. She thinks it was the RLS med kicking in still; recommended holding off on it to determine which one was the culprit. She was right. I did not take the RLS med last night and only woke up an hour earlier, at 2a, with no pain. Was also able to get back to sleep until 7a. I don't really feel rested, but I feel we are on the right track. Will call the doc for an adjustment on Monday. My feeling is the BiPap will help with all of it, including the legs and, I hope I will be able to get by without any leg meds. The other med is much more important and I seem to be tolerating it well, so that's good. Thanks for asking. Hope that's not too much info!:-) |

Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: katlaughing Date: 08 Apr 11 - 11:46 PM Thanks, folks. SRS, thanks. I was reminded by anudder Mudder about the Ivory soap, but it was for leg cramps from what I remember. I do have some and will try it, but for now, the problem is severe enough and I feel so worn out, we are using medication at least for a week or two to see if it helps. Tonight will be the first night. |
Subject: RE: BS: Kat needs your good thoughts (Update) From: Stilly River Sage Date: 08 Apr 11 - 11:29 PM Information is power, so it's a good thing you've had the various studies done. What are you doing for the restless leg syndrome (or whatever kind of ailment it is considered?) Do you recall a discussion ages back, when it was suggested that (I know it sounds silly) a bar of Ivory soap under your bottom sheet down near your feet helps it go away? I've heard people call in to the People's Pharmacy on NPR and say it works. Have you tried it? SRS |
