Subject: RE: Obit: Colin Kemp From: karen k Date: 02 Sep 07 - 11:30 AM How terrible. Met Colin in the US with the Shellbacks a few years back and then saw him again the following year when I was in England. Hard to believe and I'm most saddened. Condolences to his family. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Colin Kemp From: MoorleyMan Date: 02 Sep 07 - 11:00 AM So it IS true then. OK, it must be, but I still can't accept it. Sh***. We've lost more than a few "good guys" to the grim reaper of late I know, but as far as ColK's concerned, well a nicer, more genuine, more big-hearted, more fair-minded, more modest and unassuming, more helpful, truly good guy I've yet to meet anywhere on the (UK) folk scene. Col will be missed big time, no question. If I could only reach a massive hug up there to him... Sincerest condolences to all Col's family and his many many friends from me 'n' th' lass. MM |

Subject: RE: Obit: Colin Kemp From: treewind Date: 02 Sep 07 - 10:42 AM Terrible news. We saw him only recently on his usual stewarding pitch at the Whitby Metropole, cheerful, informative and helful as ever. This is hard to take in. We'll miss him. Anahata |

Subject: RE: Obit: Colin Kemp From: Jennyldb Date: 02 Sep 07 - 10:31 AM Hiya My Dad's at Fylde and has just rung me to tell me. Utter shock and disbelief. Colin should have been at Fylde as usual but Maurice and Ilene (you'll know them if uve met them) had pitched Colin's tent for him and were concerned when he didn't show up and his mobile was going straight to answer phone. Concerned, they spoke to Graham Langhorne (dep Chief Steward) who tried to contact Colin but was informed that he'd been found dead in bed on Friday morning, either by a friend or his mother, not certain which. If I get any more details I'll keep u posted. Thats as much as we know at the moment. So many happy memories of one of lifes genuinely nice blokes. A great big man with a big heart, always ready with a hug and some dry humour. I just can't believe it. It just wont be the same without him. Just hope we can all have a bloody good sing at the funeral (no details yet im afraid) and give him a good send off. Hopefully quite a few of Colin's fellow Shellback's will be there... :'( Jenny Briggs (Keith Briggs' daughter) |
