Rapaire - unless the house is selling for less than $20-$30, I don't think there's much hope of that... Santa's a bit strapped for cash this year. Could just about manage a brick.

Consider the possibility that your Secret Santas are so busy seeking out just the right combination of excitement that they have no time left to write! Besides, there are so many people swearing that they are being good that Santa really has no time left to do anything but check up on them. Ah, that Bente! And Crystal...and Alison...and Megan! There are windows all over the world with noseprints on them! Mike, Leadfingers and Giok are beyond any definition of propriety already, so the Santa-Corps has given up watching them.

Dear SSSSsssssssssssss:

My neighbor's house is gonna be sold at a foreclosure auction in January. It sure would be a nice present if you were to buy it for me as a late Christmas pressie. Then I could let poor but deserving folk musicians live there and have place for house concerts and all sorts of neat folking stuff.

Just a hint.

Yes, oh red-headed one...it is, in fact, heading north to ME!! My team of desire-fulfillment experts is reviewing your wish list carefully and searching the known universe. As specific objects are located, they are sent here to the North Pole, where my consolidation and packaging experts will prepare it for further shipping on to you.

Thank you for the good thoughts, but I do not need a new GPS unit. I have eight directionally-talented reindeer to help find my way to hither and yon - and believe me, you are about as far yon as we get!! However, because of the increased demand created by this Secret Santa nonsense, I am afraid that, even with all of your obvious talents, I must consign it at some point to the postal systems of various government entities rather than rely entirely upon personal delivery.

Hello, hello, dry your eyes, my dear. Santa has been away visiting other like-minded folks, ran into a spot of trouble with one of the levitating rails on the sleigh, twisted me back just a bit, and is now BACK and ready to begin the hunt for your perfect prezzies!

So FA SO LA, you seem like a traditionalist (who here isn't...) and like beautiful colors (sea greens, blues, red reds) and beads and funnypapers and almondy things...etc....etc.......THIS will be easy.

Your Santa

Dear Silenus Charm, Research Elf:

I did leacve some brief hints over the hint thread but since you saw my post here, I figured I'd best continue here.

First - please tell Santa that I am terribly allergic to Bleu Cheese of any kind. I have no other serious allergies but I discovered whilst working for a caterer in Graduate school that several forms of Bleu cheese caused me to break out in huge red welts. The stickier and more virulent the Bleu, the worse it gets. You mentioned Stilton so I figured I'd better speak up. Stilton isn't so bad as Bleu's go. I can handle it with gloves but I can't even be in the same room as Gorgonzola or Roquefort. 'Nuff said.

Speaking of food - If Santa happens to be in an area where he can locate dried Bilberries - we don't have Bilberries here in the USA and seeing as it isn't quite Loughnassa without them - well, I'd love some dried Bilberries for the pantry. Huckleberries would do in a pinch but those are hard to come by too. When I was growing up, we could still find Huckleberries wild even in NYC. (They grew in deserted parts of parks and along old footpaths) Incidentally, I am not a Pagan or a Neo-Pagan but that doesn't stop me from carrying on with a tradtional on Bilberry Sunday.

I am married - going on eleven years and have no children (not by choice). I am a doting auntie, but my nieces and nephews are far away. I have 1 and a half cats and sadly, my dog died last year. I have yet to recover enough to adopt another one. My full cat is a gigantic female marmalade. She's freakin' huge. She looks like she's a small dog wearing a cat suit. I blame it genetics - her father was also her grandfather - you know how cats do that sometimes. She doesn't need or want for anything - spoiled fat girl she is! Actually, she's not fat - just huge in size. I shouldn't call her fat - she'll get a complex.

My half of a cat is a small black male named Inky and he's my current "baby". He lives under out cottage except when it rains or is terribly cold. Then he asks to come in for a cuddle. He could use a nice bright red collar with a bell or any kind of cool, california hippy/surfer type of collar He tells me he surfs from time to time when it rains really hard and the waves start crashing in the storm drains.   His current collar is black and is getting frayed. Inky was tossed out of his first home by an evil boyfriend and came to live under our house when he was only 5 months old. He has trust issues but he's a good boy.

I'll come back and write more later.

'I will try tae be good but i need a dispensation fur the McMudgather..'

I have been reading your posts on the thread about the upcoming Mudgather, and I realize that this is the first time you'll be going to a gather of this kind. Well, far be it from me to deny a girl her pleasures, so you have all the dispensation you want for this particular gather. In return I expect you to be exceedingly well behaved for the rest of the time until Christmas. Deal?

I must admit, though, that it worries me a bit when you say you're thinking about bringing your Granny along to the Mudgather. You stated in your hints that you're heading towards 50 on a fast horse, so I estimate that your Granny must be heading towards 90 on an even faster horse, or am I mistaken? I'm not sure I would recommend exposing a lady of such advanced years - even one armed with a whip and a feather boa - to the likes of MacKenzie and Secsy Liz. I do think you should reconsider, my Dear.

Megan, Dear, you say you collect thimbles. Does this mean that you like sewing? What are your other hobbies apart from writing with a real pen, do you like cooking? baking? knitting? painting? I'm sure I can get you some goose feathers for making pens, the elves have a large goose pen out the back, so that shouldn't pose any problems at all (although the feathers might require a little bit of cleaning before use..) Do you have any pets? (No, Dear, husbands don't count as pets. You'd need to add an s in there somewhere to get a description of husbands..)

Give me a few more hints, Dear?

MISS

ADDSS,

We're slow, but we're steady.

Chickens: astro has a couple of ceramic chickens which he brought when he joined our household. Since then, son Dan and I have threatened him with all sorts of lovely chicken knick-knacks, but for some reason, he has resisted. Our favorites were some feathered ones that crowed when you clapped. There were several shelves-full and it was quite fun. (Too bad astro wasn't with us at the time, though he does quake at the mention...)

Puce: what more needs to be said?

Stuffed cats: Son Dan collected these at one point; he's on to seals now, though. I'm not sure how they crept into our profile, except perhaps in relation to discussing allergies...

Highly esteemed Da BOSS,

Sorry, if I have offended by being quiet, I was told by my mother that good girls reply when spoken to and otherwise keep silent, so that's what I've been doing - being a good girl, me ;-) I don't hunt wabbits, it's one of the reasons I keep a dog. So I don't have to do any hunting myself, see?

I haven't done Penzance yet, but it's on my list. But I thought Guinness was from Ireland, though? Smoke and swear? Hmmm.. yes, I think I have to plead guilty on those two counts.

Milloup will be happy with any bone, wrapped or unwrapped. I haven't come across any wrapping as yet that he wasn't capable of defeating all on his own. However, I do think our mailman would prefer the bone to be wrapped.. :o))

Respectfully yours,

Bente

Dear Sants,
Gee, I'm sorry. I didn't realize not liking purple put me in the naughty category. It's a very nice color for sunsets and wildflowers, I'm just not a big fan of it in apparel or home decor. And Solstice works for me, not being a big religious holiday fan myself.

Dear Sinsull's VERY Secret Santa. Sins may indeed be an non ~ evil Caring, loving Human Being who wouldn't harm a Mosquitoe or a Flea even by thought, deed or word. I also will admit that I am most likely twice, nay thrice, as evil as Jacqui ~BUT~
Goody Goody folk need Jacqui and I. They do! We say the unsayable, do the unimaginable, and think the unthinkable and then broadcast it out loud thus saving Goody Goody folk from having to feel Guilty for even contemplating thinking, imagining or saying evil stuff.
So you see in a strange way I see myself and Jacqui as just two regular Gals offering Humanitarian Services to our Friends and the World at Large!

The junior ælves have the situation well in hand...one sought-for item is already winging its way north (well, I think its in a truck, actually...) and the game's well afoot for others. However, the reindeer say that they won't fly that far without a special pay raise, and Old Santa is on a fixed income. Ah, what to do...perhaps I can enlist a balloonist or hang glider rider for assistance? No, the wind doesn't blow that way. Oh well...2 months is a long time yet.
