Subject: RE: Sandy Paton Memorial &Music Tribute 10 October '09 From: GUEST,Guest -- Hikerman Date: 06 Aug 09 - 01:26 PM Frankly, anything that Caroline wants to do would take priority. The schedule of her family and closest friends is what should matter most to her. Not whether any Mudcat members have gigs that they have to rush to or festivals that would get in the way of their attending. If the date fits what is best for her inner circle that is what she is probably most concerned about. Our petty scheduling problems should be the last thing that she should consider at this time. |

Subject: RE: Sandy Paton Memorial &Music Tribute 10 October '09 From: katlaughing Date: 06 Aug 09 - 10:55 AM Well, from the sounds of it, there were festivals every other weekend that they knew of, so I guess they picked what they thought was best and fitted with their friends from Scotland who will be over a limited time. Caroline said it was in Cornwall, but there are so many little villages next to one another I'm not surprised it seems to be of different locales.:-) |
Subject: RE: Sandy Paton Memorial &Music Tribute 10 October From: Anglo Date: 06 Aug 09 - 10:30 AM This may leave the Getaway clear, but unfortunately it does conflict with the Boston Folk Song Society's Fall Weekend. |

Subject: RE: Sandy Paton Memorial &Music Tribute 10 October From: Charlie Baum Date: 06 Aug 09 - 09:22 AM Music Mountain is actually near Falls VIllage, Connecticut. (Lakeville is just where their administration has a post office box.) Nearby landmarks, for those who know them, are the Housatonic Valley Regional High School (where Kaelan Paton went, and from which his memorial service was moved), and "Camp" Isabella Freedman, which is just on the other side of the mountain from Music Mountain, and where a lot of folk activities have occurred over the past many years. Also near Lime Rock for auto racing fans, and a little north of the covered bridge at West Cornwall. The nearest airport is probably Bradley (BDL) (Hartford/Springfield), but Albany, NY, (ALB) is worth consideration if flights are more convenient/cheaper. --Charlie Baum |
Subject: RE: Sandy Paton Memorial &Music Tribute 10 October From: GUEST,Ed Brown Date: 06 Aug 09 - 07:11 AM Thanks for the early announcement of Sat. Oct. 10 date. Those of us with Saturday evening venues (and performers booked for that evening) will be hoping for a very early afternoon time - to make it possible to attend and still get back to set up for our concerts. e.g. We have Cindy Kallet, Ellen Epstein, & Michael Cicone playing in Springfield, MA that evening at the uNi Coffeehouse Concert Series. |
Subject: RE: Sandy Paton Memorial &Music Tribute 10 October '09 From: maeve Date: 06 Aug 09 - 06:11 AM Padre- This site indicates that "The nearest major airport to Lakeville, Connecticut is Bradley International Airport, with an IATA code of BDL and an ICAO code of KBDL. This airport is in Hartford, Connecticut and is 39 miles from the center of Lakeville, CT." I hope that is helpful. maeve |

Subject: Sandy Paton Memorial 10 October 2009 From: katlaughing Date: 05 Aug 09 - 12:56 PM With Caroline's permission: - Mark Your Calendars - Memorial and Musical Tribute to/for Sandy will be held on Saturday, 10 October 2009 1pm at Music Mountain. They chose that date in order to not interfere with the Getaway and other fests, plus that was the best date for two of their dear friends from Scotland (sorry I didn't write their names down and do not remember them.) (See bbc's posting for more details.) |
