Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Rapparee Date: 26 Dec 17 - 08:39 PM Thank you, to my SS in far-off Old York. It all came today, so it was unboxing day here. But my wife asks, "Where the HELL is Norton?" I, on the other hand, will read the book and it shall become part of my Memorial Library. The cat had a place of honor with my wife's collection of American Indian minature baskets, weavings, and so on but tore it all up and we were forced to cage it. Thank you again! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Anne Lister's Freezing Secret Santa Date: 26 Dec 17 - 04:12 PM It's cold here in my corner of the Midwest USA (high today 13 degrees F). Yes, I think you know where we met, but you have no obligation to remember the meeting from your many delighted fans there at Old Songs Festival. (another hint - I'm female, but not Animaterra) More explanations when you get the package. Happy Boxing Day! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 26 Dec 17 - 08:53 AM While there was no name on the return address, and no card within the package, the exquisite craftsmanship of the lovely crocheted shawl leads me to conclude that my Santa was none other than the wise, warm and wonderful Jacqui Morse. That, and the discerning (not to say sneaky) discovery of a book I had been longing for and had put on my Amazon wish list in the faint fond hope that a family member would notice it (Alice Starmore's Book of Fair Isle Knitting!!). As a member of my beloved Mudcat family, Jacqui (I assume it was you, Jacqui?) came through. Abundant and joyful thanks! And yes, we do plan to make Scarborough a stop on a future trip Up West! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Hollowfox Date: 26 Dec 17 - 08:39 AM Thank you, Sarah the Flute! Everything was just what I wanted and needed! Your newest Morrigan cd played yesterday afternoon (lovely!) and the Rochester Dickens Fair looks like something my whole family wants to try out (photo opportunity with Fagan?) The dragon pin is beautiful! (Time for me to go to work now). By the way, were you Hola there Foxie? Inquiring minds want to know. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Hollowfox, sans cookie Date: 24 Dec 17 - 11:29 PM My pressie arrived yesterday, safe and sound. I'm waiting until tomorrow (local time) to open it of ocurse. Many thanks! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Rapparee's Reclusive Rapscallion Date: 24 Dec 17 - 03:40 PM Just seen your post, young man. I do apologise that the parcel has not reached you before the day. I will be interrogating my elf and demanding he explain himself. I get the feeling he has been distracted by the shiny things and pretty lights - or the tavern... He may have taken a wrong turn at Easter Island, however. All being well, your items should reach you by Old Christmas Eve. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gaffes and treasons. From: GUEST,Firecat's Slow Santa and his sadly selected Date: 24 Dec 17 - 01:22 PM O, inflammatory Kitten Of Christmas, As you sit there purring by an open fire, know that your present will arrive a little late, but should be there by twelfth night. It turned out that your delivery elf spent a few nights in a drunk tank after he left here. It was a few days before we knew, but another elf has picked up the package and is in his way. Poor Elmer lost his 'elf control again and "fell off the sleigh", so we're leaving him there in the hoosegow for the holidays and we'll see if any further disciplinary action has to be taken once he's set free. Don't worry, though. Your package should be well worth the wait. Maybe even in gold. I assure you that you'll have a much better Christmas than poor Elmer as he dries out. May YOUR turkey be warm. And may your spirits be bright Santa Claus |

Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Jeri Date: 24 Dec 17 - 12:27 PM Snow, ice, but all is well. Your pckage arrived yesterday, and I gingerly made my way across the street to my mailbox today. I shall try to not open it until tomorrow. Thanks in advance, Santa! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Jeri's somewhat deJected Santa Date: 24 Dec 17 - 11:33 AM I had hoped the elves would have managed to deliver your package in time, my dear Jeri, but it seems it has been somehow delayed in transit. Rest assured it is "in the system", however. With best wishes for a most merry Christmas in any case. Ho, ho, and again - ho. |

Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, grift and fleecing From: Severn Date: 22 Dec 17 - 12:37 PM I've even gotten a present from a former Santee, but my House Brownies have not encountered any wee folk beariing me gifts from this year's SS. I'm getting a bit worried. Did Santa fall back asleep?..... |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Jacqui's Super Secret Santanic Santa Date: 21 Dec 17 - 08:19 PM Ah, yes. Jacqui. Jacqui Morse. Jacqui C. Morse. Wife of Captain Kendall Morse of Maine. Well, your package is on its way via a special At your desire, dear lady, I have sent you things that are reminiscent of my area: Dante's Inferno and the F?s Adamn?in. At your request I have also sent a genuine phaser pistol which you can use as you see fit. There are other things which I think you will enjoy. They reflect the similarities between Maine and my own environs. But they will have to await your return to Maine as my thralls cannot understand the British postal codes. Now I must away, as there are pressing temptations to tempt with. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Jeri Date: 21 Dec 17 - 06:32 PM If Creature Comforts means what I think (I've been there, too, didn't know you had), then I know who your Santa is. (Ain't tellin'!) I also heard Tony McManus sing your lovely "Icarus" a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the song. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Anne Lister Date: 20 Dec 17 - 06:00 AM Ah - sudden moment of enlightenment for Creature Comforts! But still not sure who you are exactly ...Gosh, that was some time ago. And I'd love to come back to the festival! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Anne Lister Date: 19 Dec 17 - 06:25 PM Well, thank you in advance, Santa, even if I have to wait a little longer! And I'm still mystified by the reference to Creature Comforts ... how long ago was this, approximately? At the moment the only Creature Comforts I can think of are the animations by Aardman! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Anne Lister's SS (finally) Date: 19 Dec 17 - 04:35 PM Well, I got your package to the post office today, and they said it would take 6-10 days. Sorry for the delay, but it should be there in time for Old Christmas. After it was boxed and sealed, I saw that I'd neglected to put in my commentary/explanation sheet, so when I know you've gotten your pressie, I'll tell all, including who I am. hehehe |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Sarah the flute Date: 19 Dec 17 - 04:08 PM oooooooh a strange shaped object has arrived today and although I am pretty certain who it is from I will refrain from opening it until after the big day, I am off to Iceland for Christmas this year and so won't be doing any present opening until my return on 27th Dec - Luckily all presents - aside from our own secret santa family ones will be safely out of tempting reach! Thank you Santa and a proper thank you later on Sarah |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Acme's Secet Slow Santa Date: 19 Dec 17 - 02:39 PM When you work with elves (or humans) things can get interesting. My young Philasha has been exploring different types of toymaking. She unfortunately went all crafty on me. She wanted to make you something. Fine, I said, but now it's all "let me add this...let me add that. I told her I had to send it. You may get her opus, but the rest is going tomorrow. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, grits and teething. From: GUEST,Firecat's Slow Santa & His Stealth Elves Date: 19 Dec 17 - 01:13 PM O, Pretty, Patient, Properly Popular Polar-Presented Possibly-Flammable Pussycat, It took some time, I hope not too much time, but the elves finally got their hindquarters back to headquarters. They're all present and accounted for, and all presents are accounted for, so you will be passed a present in the near future. It's loading time, and there will be a whole slew of selected stocking stuffers being stuck, stacked and slid slowly and solidly into the sleigh. Until then, Your official Christmas Mantra is to repeat the previous sentence over and over real fast ten times in succession to help your stocking (maybe even overstocking?) booty safely soar skyward and Southward sooner. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST, Billybob's discomBOBulated Santa Date: 19 Dec 17 - 12:59 PM Ms Billy, you've probably heard about #ClimateChange, sometimes called #GlobalWarming, right? Well, Santa has been busy putting pontoons under the NorthPole Landing Pad and it completely slipped his mind that some gifts needed to be dispatched early. Two of the reindeer have been fitted with water wings and will head out to an area where they can get a clean launch and . . . that's all I have right now. But it's on the way, I promise! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Anne Lister's Smiling Secret Santa Date: 18 Dec 17 - 04:10 PM I've got all the things, and plan to post them tomorrow. As for the hint, do you remember a place called Creature Comforts? |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 17 Dec 17 - 04:55 PM I have stashed it with other items that have arrived in the mail with "Do not open...." messages. As I told you before, I am a good girl! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Allison’s Amazing Secret Santa Date: 15 Dec 17 - 04:21 PM Well, dear lady, I am so glad that my local elf was able to arrange for delivery of your gift in a timely manner. No peeking now. Christmas Day will come soon enough! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Rapparee Date: 15 Dec 17 - 10:04 AM Oh well. I'll just limp along with sawn-off shotguns. I live in The West, Santa, and by the Code Of The West* we have to do the "gunfight in the hot dusty street at high noon thing" every single day. In fact, the city has installed tumbleweeds, dust, wind machines, and heat lamps to we can do it in the winter too. Traffic doesn't stop though, and being hit by a bus while facin' down the villain just doesn't seem to be Old West. I wish the Old West Codifiers would change the Code -- the last time I was nearly hit by a garbage truck AND a beer truck (Coors Light, not even real beer). *Code Of The West, Chapter CMCLXXXI, §769, ¶34A10b6 (2017 ed. with chanages). |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Severn's secret Santa Date: 15 Dec 17 - 09:30 AM OH OH OH ! Just woke up from a nap, where did that month go? Was only going to close my eyes for a second and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! Never fear my Elves are working double quick and gathering goodies from far and wide. So in the blink of an eye your parcel will be on its way. HO HO HO, now to settle down in front of the fire .... just 40 winks ;-) |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Rapparee's Reclusive Rapscallion Date: 14 Dec 17 - 11:33 AM Well, young man, your parcel has been dispatched - minus pearl handled revolvers. Unfortunately, some of my elves were, shall we say, less than careful in the handling of said firearms and managed to shoot themselves in the foot. They have been reprimanded and the guns confiscated as Exhibit A in an Elf and Safety investigation. Expect delivery via limping elf in time for the Big Day - or a few days after, subject to elfish foot. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 14 Dec 17 - 07:09 AM Hey, Santa, a mysterious package appeared in my door yard yesterday- I didn't know the North Pole was so close to me! I promise to be good, but oh, it's so tempting... |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Rapparee's Reclusive Rapscallion Date: 14 Dec 17 - 05:57 AM Yes, certainly, but there might be a delay of 200 - 300 years. I need to get my unicorn trained for delivery. My dragon is a bit reluctant. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Rapparee Date: 13 Dec 17 - 10:07 PM Oh goody! Santa knows who I am! Can I have a pair of pearl handled .45s (that is, 1873 Colt Single-Action Army revolvers in unused condition and with sequential serial numbers in the original box) in hand-tooled leather holsters? Engraving chased in gold, of course. Silver bullets would be cool. |

Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Allison’s Amazing Secret Santa Date: 11 Dec 17 - 03:05 PM Well, dear lady. I have received a missive from a trusted emissary who advises me that your gifties are winging their way to you as we speak. No peeking before the big day or it might just be coal you find. I hope that I have found some presents that will give you pleasure on the day. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Rapparee's Reclusive Rapscallion Date: 10 Dec 17 - 06:53 AM Patience, dear boy, patience. I have sent my elves out, but I have others still attempting to discover how good (or not) you are. I'm currently attempting to decide between a lump of finest anthracite and some, potentially more appealing, items. You are being monitored... EDIT: My elves have just returned! They seem to be wearing cowboy hats and six-shooters. Very strange. Rudolph's been dressed up as a horse! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Anne Lister Date: 09 Dec 17 - 06:50 PM Well, I've never had a teasing message that was no message at all, Santa - were you interrupted? Or was it intentionally left blank, so I could imagine all sorts of things? |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 09 Dec 17 - 11:24 AM Santa, I'm so excited! I will put out the "usual refreshments" anticipating your arrival. I promise to be patient, at least, as patient is as reasonable at this time of year! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Rapparee Date: 09 Dec 17 - 10:46 AM Nothing. But that's my usual Christmas. When I was little I once got a stick but we had to burn it for warmth. That was the only time I ever got anything. Ah, well. I'm used to it. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Jeri Date: 09 Dec 17 - 10:41 AM Thanks Santa! If I've made it thus far, I daresay I gleefully anticipate delivery! |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Jeri's Jovial Jule-tide Joculator Date: 09 Dec 17 - 10:31 AM Well, my dear, from here on matters are in the hands of the elves. The reindeer are visiting the reindeer equivalent of a chiropodist, or podiatrist, or whatever you might call a hoof specialist, but the elves have resorted to more conventional methods of delivery. And the main thing is that the package is on its way. Don't let this be an excuse to alter your exemplary conduct, mind you. It could always turn to ashes in transit.... |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Severn Date: 08 Dec 17 - 07:39 PM At least I know you're out there! How are all things Polar? What will you do if Trump lets his buddies drill and frack nearby? We certainly know who's been naughty and it's a knotty question. Can you think of something less dirty than coal to put in their stockings? All that coal will just encourage them. Maybe a cactus, or even an open jawed muskrat trap to snap shut on their greedy paws. I appreciate whatever you'll be bringing me but you all up there be careful. It's a jungle out there, and all this climate denial was not well thawed out beforehand.... |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Sarah's Satisfied Santa Date: 08 Dec 17 - 02:19 PM Well, it was a close call, according to Reindeer Central, but your package should soon be flying in your general direction. If I had known you would be so close, I would have hand-delivered it, since Iceland is a second home to me! As it is, it will arrive by the usual methods. I guess this means you can stop behaving yourself, as the Deed is Done and there's nothing more I can do about it! |

It's going to be an exciting Xmas for me this year as I am travelling up towards your North Pole house and should be watching the sun rise on Xmas morning while supping on a cocktail in the Blue Lagoon in Iceland |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Severn Date: 05 Dec 17 - 07:16 PM Hello out there! I'm waiting patiently for word from you, words being considered part of the present, when they're good and they're fun. My two House Brownies, Hash and McGhee, have seen no trace of your messengers among the Wee Folk aiding others this Christmas. They'd like to know where you are, so they can make sure the present's safe and be able to go out to whatever party that the local Wee Folk and any wandering visitors go to every year are attending. Thank You. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: Jeri Date: 05 Dec 17 - 06:54 PM Dear Santa, don't sweat it. I'm fine with time wobbles. (If you buy me a TARDIS-*hinthint*, I can take care of it anyway.) |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Jeri's Secret Santa, less alliterative becau Date: 05 Dec 17 - 06:01 PM Well, to be honest with you, it's been a tough time here at the North Pole, or the bit of it where we are. There's been a nasty case of galloping hoof rot among some of the reindeer, and most of the two legged staff have been smitten with snuffles and sneezes and coughs and diseases. So there's been more of a delay than anticipated. However, fear not - the gifts have been wrapped and will soon be on their way. It's a bit of a trek, but you will have guessed that. You have been a priority case and things should arrive in good time. |
Subject: RE: SECRET SANTA, gifts and teasing. From: GUEST,Firecat's Santa and Surveillance Squad Date: 04 Dec 17 - 10:08 AM O, Famous and Fabulous Feminine Flaming Feline, My Elf-Scouts are already hard at work trying to procure quality presents. I do think we'll. Have to rule out the Pokemon Plushies. One of my scout elves snick into a toy store to check them out, climbed on the shelf for a closer look and some little child grabbed him and wanted to buy him. He yelled "BOO!" and the child ran off crying to its mother while my elf quickly ran for cover and now wants nothing to do with plushies and applied for hazardous duty pay. Fret not, as other great goodies will come your way. |
