Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 16 Jul 06 - 05:41 PM frogprince, I thought you were going to wear a suit when you went in the aquarium. Hey, folks, don't stare, but doesn't that glass and water seems to magnify objects? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: John MacKenzie Date: 16 Jul 06 - 02:32 PM I know a girl with nice buns! Giok |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: gnu Date: 16 Jul 06 - 02:27 PM Thanks for the warning. Sounds too rich for me. Speaking of bangers. I just bought a whack of Hot Italian susages and Honey-Garlic sausages at half price - no, due date is July 22 - so, anybody got some nice buns? |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 16 Jul 06 - 07:23 AM Well I've been sitting here for ages waiting for the blokes to come over all culinary minded, but I can't even get my margheurita refreshed, let alone a plate of sizzling bangers and a bowl of potato salad! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: gnu Date: 15 Jul 06 - 08:10 PM Geeze, youse guys. You don't understand the concept of BBQ. You are suppose to be hot and desparately sucking on your cold drinks, in anticipation of the ingestion of copious quantities of charred mammal flesh, still raw in the middle, such that a full night of sleep is impossible. Togas? Are preferred. As is your own accomodation... RV, tent or blanket. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: frogprince Date: 15 Jul 06 - 07:32 PM Just got from a day of staffing the air-conditioned art gallery; I brought a bag of ice to throw in the aquarium. Close your eyes if you're sqeamish; I'm goin' in! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 15 Jul 06 - 06:40 PM Well there went a jolly hot and sunny St Swithun's day... another 40 to come? LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 15 Jul 06 - 04:45 PM Don't worry about the grill today, just slap the meat on any handy metal surface that is outside in the sun. 102 today, 103 predicted for tomorrow. That aquarium is looking VERY inviting right about now, squid or no! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: MAG Date: 14 Jul 06 - 10:28 PM Reminds me of a friend whose daughter and her friends used to play things like Barbieb Stew. I quit worrying about girls when i hear stuff like that. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 14 Jul 06 - 04:56 PM Ah... the weekend is here again.... Slush me up, puppy boy! Sling another Barbie on the grill - see those abnormally long plastic legs just curl right up..... Bliss! LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Dave (the ancient mariner) Date: 13 Jul 06 - 03:34 PM Do they charge extra for furry lobsters? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Jul 06 - 12:37 PM I'm still sticking with my rule of not eating anything with more limbs than I have.... Mind you... it would give Chongo a run for his money! LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: MMario Date: 13 Jul 06 - 10:21 AM the hairy lobster has a very high percentage of ammonia in it's body fluids , so probably doesn't taste very good. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 13 Jul 06 - 10:11 AM I'll go for some good Northwestern Dungeness crab myself. . . let me know when it's low tide and we can go wade around for some. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: John MacKenzie Date: 13 Jul 06 - 04:37 AM Hairy Lobster Seriously though I did hear of the hairball in lobsters before, and it was theorised that pieces of cowhide complete with hair were being used in lobster pots as bait. It has the advantage of lasting longer than fishy baits. This meant that lobsters ingested the hair along with the hide. Could account for the fisherman who said, "I haven't seen hide nor hair of a lobster all day"! Giok I'll get me carapace. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 13 Jul 06 - 03:47 AM I swear I found a lobster in the hairball my cat coughed up the other day.... LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: number 6 Date: 12 Jul 06 - 04:50 PM One of my employee's father is a lobster fisherman off of Newfoundland ... declared he found a hairball in a lobster he caught. sIx |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 12 Jul 06 - 04:48 PM Could BE beaver then.... Does it taste fishy? LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 Jul 06 - 04:40 PM "Fur dolphin" is just code meaning his neighbor's Labrador retreivers got out there and chased the fish in the water. I do believe the dogs usually survive the experience, so I'm not sure what the fuzzy part is. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Liz the Squeak Date: 12 Jul 06 - 04:33 PM Damn.... I thought that was beaver. LTS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: gnu Date: 12 Jul 06 - 01:42 PM Fur dolphins! That, spit, explains, spit, the hairball. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: MMario Date: 12 Jul 06 - 01:27 PM They both taste pretty dang good! BTW - you do *not* want to know how difficult it was to teach salmon how to navigate the Drums of Seneca in order to spawn. Had to use some freshwater fur dolphins to lead them the first couple of generations. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 Jul 06 - 01:22 PM AH, but mine was marinated then smoked over alder and it started out as Copper River King salmon! It's the amount of natural red that gives the flavor that huge boost! I think perhaps yours is reflecting those great salmon oils in the juice that form a skin* on the fillet and lighten the surface when it has finished cooking. (*The word "congeal" comes to mind, but it isn't my favorite word to describe fine cooking!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: MMario Date: 12 Jul 06 - 11:08 AM Mine was smoked over Alder, applewood and clippings from cabernet grapes. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: MMario Date: 11 Jul 06 - 02:02 PM Liz - when someone states a Universal Truth it takes a while to digest; so everyone else tends to puase a bit - especially if they are paying attention. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern & Barbeque Summer '06 From: MAG Date: 10 Jul 06 - 01:31 AM Chocolate beer isn't bad. That thing with chocolate liquor, mint liquor, and heavy cream/ice cream is better. But I don't do them anymore. Except virtually, here -- I'll just do both bottles here with coffee ice cream in the food processor. and ice. sugar, caffein, alcohol. They're deadly. |
