Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: Peace Date: 22 Mar 07 - 02:46 PM Not much of a thought. The list he posted (from somewhere without attribution of any kind) was around when typewriters were in vogue. Nice try, though. My beef with tarheel is too many racist jokes from him in the past. Too many trolling threads, and FHFNO. |

Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: JennyO Date: 21 Mar 07 - 08:09 PM Phew! I went to bed thinking I was a voice in the wilderness, but I see commonsense has prevailed in some quarters. I've been around the 'cat long enough to understand why some people here might not like Tarheel, but I think it is wrong to react in a negative way to someone's post because you don't like the person. I agree very much with what Lox and Bee-dubya-ell said. I don't agree with a lot of what Tarheel says either, but I would prefer to take a post at face value. If it's funny, I laugh. I think that all those things, like being judgmental and holding a grudge, do more harm to the person doing it than the person they have a grudge against. In fact, I believe those negative feelings can affect your health, so I try not to do it. I have had an awful lot of the saccharine-sweet emails about friendship, and "sissy crap" is just a funny way of describing it. Sentimentality certainly has its place, but en masse via email? Ho Hum. I know which kind I'd rather get. I suspect it may appeal to some more than others because it actually has the style of Aussie humour, which I am attuned to. I'm always saying number 7 to people, but they insist on coughing at me anyway :-( |

Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: Amos Date: 21 Mar 07 - 02:19 PM I dounno, BWL. Anything's possible, ya know. As for these Internet chestnuts, one reason for assuming they've been seen widely is because, on the internet, one good joke sent to several friends will have a quarter-million readers before the next morning. Within a week it will be in the millions. A |

Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 21 Mar 07 - 02:08 PM Well, that may be an old email forward that's been around for years, but I've never seen it before and I find it humorous. Why do some people automatically assume that just because they've seen something before, it's no longer worthy of someone else's attention? A joke isn't "old" if it's new to you. Or could it be that the thread originator's past history here makes some people see anything he posts in a negative light instead of giving it a fair reading? |

Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: Big Mick Date: 21 Mar 07 - 01:35 PM Fair enough, lox. I think what bothers me is the idea that other ideas about this are "sissy crap". Tarheel has spent plenty of time on this forum chastising others for how they see the world. My opinion is that this makes his posts fair game. Sorry I poked my head out. Back to the cave. |

Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: GUEST,lox Date: 21 Mar 07 - 01:15 PM I agree with just about nothing Tarheel says when he posts on matters political, But I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that he is a genuine person who believes that his approach to life and his understanding of the world is the best way forward for humans and in the best interests of humanity. He posts with self assurance, tenacity and belief. He believes passionately in his point of view and states it, not to offend, but because he thinks he has something to say that matters and is relevant. I respect him for these things and would rather see his perspecetive as a welcome challenge, to sharpen my wits and test my understanding, than slag him off because he posts something that he finds funny. So you don't find it funny. Big Mick I respect you too. But I think you are wrong on this one. I think you are guilty of a different type of Machismo in this instance. The criticism you make of Tarheel is mere recognition of his special brand of weakness and frailty. The way you slag it off, and the language you use are very much about "talking tough" "little boy" etc Perhaps we're all scared little boys (and girls) sometimes and it's nothing to be ashamed of - you make it sound like a reason to despise him -> cos you're tougher than that? So what if he got it from someone else? None of us are truly original. So what if he finds it funny? I think some of it is. |

Subject: RE: BS: sissy crap... From: Big Mick Date: 21 Mar 07 - 11:27 AM Very old stuff, Maggie. It's been bouncing around the internet for several years. Tarheel finds this old crap and puts it up as though it came from him. Guys that still believe their manhood rests in their ability to talk tough, and never letting anyone know that they are really just scared little boys grown old, insist on passing this crap on. Subject: BS: sissy crap... From: tarheel Date: 21 Mar 07 - 11:19 AM Are you tired of those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, But never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship. 1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against The sorry bastard who made you sad. 2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you. 3. When you smile -- I will know you finally got laid. 4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get. 5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much Worse it could be until you quit whining. 6. When you are confused -- I will use little words. 7. When you are sick -- Stay the hell away from me until you are well Again. I don't want whatever you have. 8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy ass. 9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. "Why?" you may ask; "because you are my friend". Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, But only you can feel the true warmth. Send this to 10 of your closest friends, Then get depressed because you can only think of 4. |
