The planned destination of my annual educational camping trip with son Martin was Colorado, but with gas prices this high we might stay in California instead.

Only trouble is, the campgrounds are always terrifically crowded here.

Maybe Sequoia National Park, which last time I visited was not a major tourist destination, or perhaps somewhere down Highway 1. (Suggestions welcomed...)

And then in October, the Getaway of course.

Claire

Was going to Northern California but my car engine's just bust and I've got a bill for £3K, so not going anywhere (except for a drive).

A weekend of music with friends at an Inn in W. Virginia..starting tomorrow. It's a 5 hour drive, and is about all we can afford....if gas goes up even more, we may have BBQs in the back yard next year.

I'll be going to Northern California in early July to fence in the USFA Summer Nationals. We're going early to tour the redwoods, wine country, the PCH, etc. Should be a lot of fun. Fencing is a good excuse to travel. I've already been to Richmond, VA and Chicago.

Well, we've just come back from a few days exploring Hardian's Wall (hello, pet), are off next month to the Isle of Wight( hello me loverly), a few days in Surrey later on (AIw Helaiw)and a couple of visits to Greece in the Summer:Skiathos and Kalymnos (Yassas). We haven't sorted out a UK Autumn break yet to coincide with my 65th birthday (no, I don't look it do I?), but with the few bob my dad left me (when I finish with probate) we're off to NZ for a month next year. Ain't retirement grand!

I love Marrakech!

Not decided about location of "away" holidays yet, but will be at Towersey and Sidmouth. We are in the same cottage in Sidmouth this year, just behind the Bedford. Handy!

Stewarding at Towersey... I'd forgotten about that, and a weekend in Hastings.

Other than that, we're holidaying in 'Save for new boiler' town.

Already had a week cruising up the Nile. Will be at Sidmouth for the week stewarding and at various other smaller festivals throughout the summer, then going to Marrakesh in November.

We are both likely to be out of work again soon so unlikely to get very far away. The cottage is already booked for folk week in Whitby so hopefully we will manage to get there.

The choir has no tours planned for this year so our holiday was a weekend in Dorset, surrounded by family, sheep, bird flu and wind.

I had a fantastic time, but I don't think Manitas was so enamoured of the amount of fresh air that whistled round the chapel.

Just been to Sri Lanka, going to New Zealand in May to visit my son and the new granddaughter. I'll be camping in Scotland as usual in July, and then I'll be at Whitby for Folk Week. Wouldn't mind a hop over to Ireland in the autumn, but I might get a kitten instead!

I'll be going to New Zealand quite regularly now.

Try Cuba. Not without it's problems - some self generated - but it will probably challenge your ideas about the value of material goods and the value of music.

What Jacqui (and Kendall) sasy.

It's not much out of my way to be at the New Hampshire beaches. I'm within sight (sort of) of the White Mountains. Historical sites all around me or a reasonably short drive.

Alas, can't go too far afield this year (other than a spring music gathering a couple states to the south) because of lack of funds and uncertainties of a new job (which I don't have yet).

So my travelling will be done in books -- this morning I rounded the Horn with Howard Blackburn of Gloucester on his way to the Klondike for the gold rush. Just returned from "The Secret Heart of Asia" -- all the "stans" of Turkic (except for Tajikstan) people above Afghanistan and Pakistan. Didn't cost much, either.

As Kendall says "Why go somewhere when you're already there?"

We are hoping to get to N.Carolina to visit friends in late April and I'm going to the UK in August to catch up with the family and spoil my grandchildren (and maybe to get to some sessions as well).

Otherwise - we have everything here to make life good.

I'm going on my first holiday away in a hotel for years - yay ! My daughter has a training placement this summer with the RSC in Stratford on Avon - yay again ! When she's finished, I'm going across there and we're going to have a holiday. What will I being doing ? Lolling about in the hotel, messing about on the river, wandering the town, indulging in cream teas and watching all the plays. Bliss.
