It has always seemed to me that if you were pro-life you also had to be anti-war, anti-death penalty, and so on. That you should be active in groups like Oxfam and Amnesty International.

In every Republican primary, strong appeal to the religious-right and/or ultra-right "base" IS important, and always plays a part if determining who becomes the Republican candidiate.

Then, in the general election, many of those GOP condidiates get elected, very often based upon their entirely bogus claim of "fiscal responsibility," because they promise not to give money to poor people (code for non-white people), but spend as much or more than any Democrat by giving money to the rich and well-connected.

That's how the will of a loud and determined minority is imposed upon the nation as a whole.

Such interstate-travel-vaginal-inspection laws would be attackable (whether successfully or not) as a restriction on interstate commerce. Also a violation of the "right of privacy", although I think several of the S.C. Justices think there is no such right under the Constitution.

Like I said, this is one scenerio that I have read about and tho my bud, Rap, has made a funny out of it, it is a distinct possibility...

And, BTW, I know that Rap knows it and his funny was just comic relief but this can happen when things go wrong... The original decision in Roe v. Wade was made only for abortions during the first trimester of pregnancy. People forget that. It was as closely written as the recent decision about the Second Amendment.

I can actually see states passing stupid, unenforceable "no out of state abortion" laws, just to suck up to a segment of voters. Okay, lets make no bones about how McCain says he feels about abortion and so lets looks at a scenerio where McCain gets elected and then appoints the last Supreme Court justice needed to take down Roe...

Here is the scenerio: Roe goes down and some states elect to allow abortions while others don't... Then a state where abortion has been made illegal passes a law saying that it is a crime to get an abortion for one of its citizens to get an abortion out of state and then...

...that state sets up ***vaginal inspection stations*** at the border to inspect any of their citizens fot evidence that an abortion had been performed while that citizen was out of state....

Ya'll don't think this can happen???

I'm sure that John McCain would be horrified if it was his wife who had to undergo a vaginal inspection every time she left and reentered the state but this scenerio is not that far from becoming a reality in states where the majority of the population are rabid true believein' anti-abortionists...

Just another thing to think about that hasn't gotten any media time...
