Subject: RE: BS: Requiem for the Bush Admin Years From: Ebbie Date: 23 Jul 10 - 05:31 PM I went looking for an appropriate thread to refresh and this is the farthest I could get. Because "Requiem" is ludicrously premature. May the Gods and Goddesses help us all! snippet "The truth, however, is that the only problem Republicans ever had with George W. Bush was his low approval rating. They always loved his policies and his governing style — and they want them back. In recent weeks, G.O.P. leaders have come out for a complete return to the Bush agenda, including tax breaks for the rich and financial deregulation. They've even resurrected the plan to cut future Social Security benefits. "But they have a problem: how can they embrace President Bush's policies, given his record? After all, Mr. Bush's two signature initiatives were tax cuts and the invasion of Iraq; both, in the eyes of the public, were abject failures. Tax cuts never yielded the promised prosperity, but along with other policies — especially the unfunded war in Iraq — they converted a budget surplus into a persistent deficit. Meanwhile, the W.M.D. we invaded Iraq to eliminate turned out not to exist, and by 2008 a majority of the public believed not just that the invasion was a mistake but that the Bush administration deliberately misled the nation into war. What's a Republican to do? "You know the answer. There's now a concerted effort under way to rehabilitate Mr. Bush's image on at least three fronts: the economy, the deficit and the war." While I agree with his fatigued state of shock fromt he constant manipulation of the Bush years, he, and you, and I, have to consent to put energy into the country as we want it to become. The battle for honesty and compassion is not over; I would say it has just been drawn. A |

Subject: BS: Requiem for the Bush Admin Years From: GUEST,Aurelia Date: 10 Nov 08 - 10:36 AM It is a heavy burden that now lies on the shoulders of the President elect. May it bring back the Folks who could not tolerate the hypocrisy that dripped from the mouths of those in and for the Bush admin. As Rufus Wainwright wrote about leaving America and moving to Berlin... I'm going to a town that has already been burnt down I'm going to a place that has already been disgraced I'm gonna see some folks who have already been let down I'm so tired of America I'm gonna make it up for all of The Sunday Times I'm gonna make it up for all of the nursery rhymes They never really seem to want to tell the truth I'm so tired of you, America Making my own way home, ain't gonna be alone I've got a life to lead, America I've got a life to lead Tell me, do you really think you go to hell for having loved? Tell me, enough of thinking everything that you've done is good I really need to know, after soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood I'm so tired of America I really need to know I may just never see you again, or might as well You took advantage of a world that loved you well I'm going to a town that has already been burnt down I'm so tired of you, America May January 2009 bring the hope and healing this Country so badly needs. |
