Well, to answer my own question... I haven't done that in the past, and I don't have any desire to do it in the future. I don't usually talk in terms of "liberal" or "conservative", since those terms are essentially meaningless to me. I consider myself to be far more conservative than George Bush, for instance.

With respect to al Qaida, CaroC, you are correct. The next time you wish to tar Conservatives by quoting, say, a David Duke or other fringe wacko right winger...remember we in the main stream of Conservatism are not responsible for their words or actions.

I believe the idea of a ten year truce, from the standpoint of the Gazans, is dependent the occupation ending. I don't think one can point to actions taken at this time as being an indication of whether or not they would honor such a truce once one was actually negotiated and agreed to.

Al-Qaida is another matter entirely. However, the people of Gaza are not accountable for the actions of Al-Qaida, although I have no doubt that there are some who would like to punish them for whatever Al-Qaida does or says, anyway.

Oh yeah, I see that Gazans and al-Qaida are really wanting a peaceful resolution with Israel. Here are two current "peace propsals".

IDF soldiers foiled a large-scale attack at the Kissufim border crossing against troops or a southern Israeli community, security officials said on Monday.
The attempted attack came early Monday morning, when a Golani force spotted two Palestinians laying explosive devices near the border crossing.
The soldiers crossed into Gaza and exchanged fire with the armed men, who fled. The Golani force then summoned an IAF aircraft, which attacked a car on the scene, apparently the escape vehicle used by the gunmen.
Palestinians reported two people lightly wounded following the attack, and said a building was also struck.
The Islamic Jihad maintained through its website that the attack was an effort to abduct IDF soldiers. The group said its gunmen stormed a Gaza house in which IDF special forces were positioned, before the IAF fired missiles at the site." [more]

Al-Qaida's No. 2 warned Palestinians in Gaza against accepting a truce with Israel in an audio message posted on extremist Web sites, an Internet monitoring service said Monday.
Egyptian-born Ayman al-Zawahri said "Israel's Arab aides" are trying to impose a truce in Gaza to defeat the Palestinians and he called on them to be steadfast while Jewish targets are attacked around the world.
"The jihad to liberate Palestine and all the homelands of Islam mustn't cease, and if the field tightens in one place, it widens in other places, and Crusader and Jewish targets are spread all over the world," he said in a transcript of the speech provided by the US-based SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors Islamic extremist Web sites."
