Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Madeleine McCann From: Trevor Date: 04 Nov 09 - 05:14 AM The reason I didn't respond to you Jack is that, IMO, this is no place or time to argue about the relative level of wickedness with which children are treated. If I had, my reply would have been along the lines of the above - that my post has given you the opportunity to bring our attention to another outrage, if we didn't know already know about it (which I did, incidentally). |

Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Lox Date: 04 Nov 09 - 04:57 AM Yes Jack. If you care so much about the Tamil children then start a thread about that situation, and if there is a campaign you wish to highlight then do so. If it matters that much then why haven't you already started such a thread or promoted such a campaign? Your post exists solely on one level and that is to attack trevor for posting something he thinks is important. At least he is prepared to initiate debate on the subject that interests him. And if, by the way, his posts has been responsible for you mentioning Tamil children, which you otherwse had no intention of doing, then he has in fact been successful in drawing attention to the plight of missing children so the premise of your meanness is fallacy anyway. |

Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Stower Date: 03 Nov 09 - 03:09 PM I have no idea whether this new move by the McCanns can bring any good. I sincerely hope it does. At least if a child dies one can mourn and attempt to come to terms with the reality one knows. In the case of a missing person, one is always seeking the truth. The unknown is so much more difficult to come to terms with. Jack, you may or may not have a good point .... Please let's not fight on this thread, but take it in the good spirit intended by Trevor. Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Steve Shaw Date: 03 Nov 09 - 12:46 PM Or just change it to "Madeleine," perhaps. |

Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: wysiwyg Date: 03 Nov 09 - 12:17 PM I'd like to request that a mod add "McCann" to the thread title, so we don't give friends of our own Mudcatter Maddie any undue adverse reactions. ~S~ |

Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Steve Shaw Date: 03 Nov 09 - 08:50 AM I should also like to point out that "Maddie" was an invention of the tabloids. Her parents never call her that. It's Madeleine. |

Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Trevor Date: 03 Nov 09 - 08:48 AM Absolutely nothing, of course. |

Subject: RE: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Jack Campin Date: 03 Nov 09 - 08:46 AM I guess passing it on not only highlights the plight of Maddie and her parents but also the countless other cases of vanished kids, who's families may not have the resources and contacts that the McCann's do: Does it now. What exactly does it do to highlight the plight of the thousands of Tamil children and adults who've disappeared in Sri Lanka since the government's invasion of the north? |

Subject: BS: A Minute For Maddie From: Trevor Date: 03 Nov 09 - 08:22 AM I don't know whether anyone else has posted this on Mudcat. I guess passing it on not only highlights the plight of Maddie and her parents but also the countless other cases of vanished kids, who's families may not have the resources and contacts that the McCann's do: Please take a minute of your time for Madeleine McCann and help spread this special message around the world. A new film has been released by the UK?s police organisation for child protection - the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre - aimed at anyone close to the person who was involved in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. That person could be a relative, friend, work colleague or neighbour. Whoever they are, they have a secret that could reveal what happened to Madeleine. In order to reach that person, CEOP are asking for the public?s help to share this message virally, via the internet, so that the message is so widespread it becomes one click away to the person who knows something about Madeleine?s disappearance. The message is then a constant reminder that it is never too late to do the right thing, to stop keeping this secret and pass this vital information to their local police. You can view the full message which is part of a 60 second film at http://www.ceop.police.uk/ If you are online and part of an online community, you can help . Post the link on your social networking site, email your friends and colleagues and encourage them to share the film, blog and Tweet about the film and link to the website above. Do anything you can to spread this message around the world. The message is available at http://www.ceop.police.uk/ and is in seven different languages ? English, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish. This initiative is supported by Leicestershire Police, Interpol, Europol and international police agencies as well as specialist charities and NGO?s such as the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Missing Children Europe and the UK charity Parents and Abducted Children Together (PACT). So, please help. Take a minute for Madeleine and help share this message around the world. Thank you Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre www.ceop.police.uk |
