Subject: RE: BS: Buy Nothing Day From: Micca Date: 28 Nov 09 - 01:18 PM SRS, Quite, but what in included is a paraphrase as i have not got the actual text in front of me, but during my search for the words I bought a copy of the book that includes the poem for 1p from amazon ( it will cost nearly £3 for postage, but what the hell) |

Subject: RE: BS: Buy Nothing Day From: artbrooks Date: 28 Nov 09 - 10:11 AM A friend of mine is showing at the big craft fair here, so I spent part of the day there. Bought a print of a nice painting from a Chinese guy, in a style that I like. Drank good coffee and read fiction at a big-box book store. Came home and ate leftover turkey. Mall? Nah! Blatant advertising alert! Want something really different for a gift? Check out Steve Appel's Bolt People. There's even a section on the site for Spaw...but you have to look for it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Buy Nothing Day From: Micca Date: 28 Nov 09 - 07:23 AM the thread reminds me of an Adrian Mitchell poem i set to Pixie of doom once, I cant find it on line as I think it is shielded by copyright but roughly it went " It was Nothingmas day and all the kids were not buying each other Nothingmas presents and all over town people were not scrambling to make last minute buys of Nothingmas presents Every where you went folks were not shouting Merry Nothingmas or singing Nothingmas Songs" |

Subject: RE: BS: Buy Nothing Day From: Amergin Date: 28 Nov 09 - 03:47 AM Going out on "black friday" is a good way to get trampled, punched spat on....people are insane...and the deals half the time are not that good...they are just told the deals are great....it's a scam. |

Subject: RE: BS: Buy Nothing Day From: Liz the Squeak Date: 28 Nov 09 - 02:42 AM Ah, if only I'd known.... spent nearly £200 on groceries and stuff yesterday... car looks like it needs a lie down and a massage - it's getting one on Monday because we think the front shocks are going. I have to buy things today, but I promise I won't buy anything tomorrow... unless I can't get the things I need today. LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Buy Nothing Day From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Nov 09 - 01:42 AM I never bother to go to any malls between the end of November and early January. It's a zoo to get in there and it's not a pleasant experience at any time of the day or week. I didn't go anywhere today, except next door to pick up my neighbor's newspaper and mail because she's out of town till tomorrow afternoon. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: But Nothing Day From: katlaughing Date: 27 Nov 09 - 11:46 PM I went back and forth to work with Rog, today. He wasn't supposed to have to go in, but none of them know how to do anything, so he gets called in. I had a good nap waiting for him in the car this morning; then he brought me home for awhile. Morgan came over and played UNO. Now, he doesn't know my socks off, not he beats the beegeezees out of me. Not sure where he heard that one, but when I said do you mean "bejesus" he said no "beegeezees!" and laughed his head off. I then went back out with Rog to set up a live shot for a Christmas tree lighting. We never, ever go shopping on this day. I don't know where people are getting the money to do so much; it's really awful to see. |

Subject: RE: BS: But Nothing Day From: Jeri Date: 27 Nov 09 - 10:51 PM I don't like crowds. I went to the gym. 10 minutes on the bike for a warm-up, some weights and 35 minutes on the elliptical thing. THEN I hit the crowds going home post-feeding frenzy. Tami, where did you take the dogs in your PJs? (Not meaning the dogs were in your PJs. I don't think all of you could fit, but I haven't seen your PJs, so I don't know.) |

Subject: RE: BS: But Nothing Day From: ranger1 Date: 27 Nov 09 - 10:39 PM I spent the day playing video games in my PJs. Only left the house to take the dogs out. |

Subject: RE: BS: But Nothing Day From: Ebbie Date: 27 Nov 09 - 10:20 PM I did buy something on the internet today, something my dog needs. I did NOT go shopping. Public Market in Juneau which for the last 18 years goes on Thanksgiving weekend is a big deal starting on Friday noon and going to Sunday evening. Crafts and other stuff are displayed for sale on table after table in our Centennial Hall. I didn't go there either. |
