Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: alanabit Date: 02 Feb 10 - 12:11 PM It sounds like they are competing with the FA in the Lunatic of the Year Competition. |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: G-Force Date: 02 Feb 10 - 11:42 AM ... forgot to add that they also got clobbered with a hefty fine. |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: Rasener Date: 01 Feb 10 - 02:17 PM Agreed |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: Lox Date: 01 Feb 10 - 01:57 PM G-Force, Isn't it utterly scandalous. Punishing a traumatized team for being victims of an ambush. Presumably those who died were also Banned. Wankers! |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: G-Force Date: 01 Feb 10 - 12:10 PM So, Togo withdrew from the competition. Now it seems that, as a consequence, they have been banned from the next two competitions. Nice to have friends! |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: Lox Date: 10 Jan 10 - 06:30 PM I was just wondering if it hadn't been done by a band of disgruntled arsenal supporters ... ... but seriously, I'm glad it wasn't worse. Whatever about the injured players, the bus driver, like many Africans in basic emplyment, would have been a poor man working for a small wage to help support his wider family as well as his immediate family. The 'small' deaths are the saddest. |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: Rasener Date: 10 Jan 10 - 02:43 AM And lets not forget the Sri Lankan cricket players and policemen shot and killed and wounded in E Pakistan March 3rd 2009 |

|
Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: alanabit Date: 09 Jan 10 - 11:45 AM I can't blame them either. It is just horrible though that they should be forced to back down to thuggery. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: Rasener Date: 09 Jan 10 - 09:02 AM Togo have cancelled out of the competition and the players are returning home(wherever that may be). Can't say I blame them. |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: alanabit Date: 09 Jan 10 - 07:38 AM Whatever you think of footballers, it does not take much courage to shoot at a bus full of unarmed people. Manuel Adebeyor, who plays for Manchester City, said that several players want to return home. I can understand that. However, it would be gratifying to seem them rise above this and use sport for its real purpose. Some good could come out of this horrible incident. Shooting a bus driver, or anyone else, who is just going about their job, is contemptible whoever does it. And that goes whether it is a "freedom fighter" in Ireland, a thug in a South American banana republic or a "political action" in Africa. |

Subject: RE: BS: Togo footballers shot in ambush From: Mrrzy Date: 08 Jan 10 - 04:35 PM I, mean, really. Footballers are usually on everybody's OK list, too, even the Ivory Coast fields a team and they have no government... |
