Subject: RE: BS: Is This the Way to Amarillo? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Jan 10 - 02:37 PM Amarillo (yellow) is one of the flattest places I've ever spent time in. But you can get out of town to some lovely canyons in the region, where rivers have cut into the high plateau. Silkwood takes place in Oklahoma, but if I recall anything about film, it is the flat landscape throughout. Might give a sense of the remoteness and flatness of Amarillo to the west. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Is This the Way to Amarillo? From: Donuel Date: 16 Jan 10 - 02:59 PM Around here hunters were held at gun point by the water police for suspicious activity. Water Police? I didn't know we had such a thing but Homeland security ginned them up and gave them full swat police style authority to protect the homeland from anyone who might contaminate the water. Well not everybody. Everybody except the water authority themselves who have the highest lead levels in the country. |

Subject: RE: BS: Is This the Way to Amarillo? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 16 Jan 10 - 12:31 PM I'd bet the landowner had never let anyone hunt on his property before, but the hunters (who were plant employees) got to know him and he made an exception for them. Why else would the plant's security people have been surprised by their presence? If he was in the habit of allowing hunting on his property, the issue would have been addressed long ago. |

Subject: RE: BS: Is This the Way to Amarillo? From: Ebbie Date: 16 Jan 10 - 11:56 AM An armadillo in Amarillo? Well, I guess that's where you'd find them. My nephew in Amarillo called me in Alaska one day. I asked him, What does Amarillo look like? He said, OK, I'll take the phone to the window and I'll tell you... OK, I can see about seven miles and I can see one tree. I said, You better hope no one goes crazy with a chain saw. He said, Right. Or there goes my view. |
