The principle of Occam's Razor was set out in former Pictish territory.
It proposes that the simplest explanation is most likely to be the correct one.
I suspect, using that principle, that a picture of a hunting scene, probably represents a scene of people hunting.

I've found it kind of weird, trying to find something out about the Picts. Nobody seems to know much about them. Maybe this language revolation will shine some light on them.

What does that have to do with what I said? Maybe the mention of alphabets confused you. Linear A had an analogue. This purported script does not.

Assuming that it is "alphabetical" in some way. I wouldn't discount the idea of engraved pictographs or petroglyphs -- I should say, "drawings" that recorded events.

Yes but we are pretty danged sure that Linear A is a language because it uses the same "alphabet" (well, syllabary) as Linear B. We have no such parallels with this new Pictish "language".

There are other written languages waiting for "decoding" -- Linear A, for example.

There's a lot of "maybe" in the article -- yes, maybe it's a script. It may have to do with a spoken language. The knots may be part of the script.

Perhaps they will find a pictish Rosetta Stone. If not I don't how if any putative decoding of the putative script could be anything but conjecture.
