Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Joins I-Pod Nation... But... From: wysiwyg Date: 07 Oct 10 - 01:09 PM nonononooooo.... The first thing to do is to adjust the ear-opening size. Ream it on out. P-Vine will probably be more than glad to help. :~) THEN invest in a series of expensive, different earbuds, headphones, jumping beans, etc., like the rest of us. I like the kind that screw right into my brain, best. Gets the hearing loss started more quickly. ~S~ |

My son uses a Sony Sport headphone, one that goes over the ear and has a little clip that goes behind each ear, not a wire over the head. He hates the buds. The Sony one is about $20 at Fry's, and there are a few others out there also. I use an over the ear one from Maxell. Buds are too big for my ears. SRS |

From: Bobert Date: 06 Oct 10 - 09:03 PM Well, ol' hillbilly has it down and loadin' that iPod up with all kinds of stuff but... ...here's the rub... The iPod camw with a couple of earplugs... One has a R (for right) and the other a L (for left)... I mean, I understand that left-right stuff... What I don't understand is how them things sposed to stay in yer ear??? The L-shaped... Actaully, more like the end of a golf club (driver)... The big part is too big to get into the ear so they kinda hang on the flap part of the ear but fall out easially??? That won't do!!! Any better headphones that actaully, ahhhhh, friggin' work and don't fall out every time ya' move yer head??? B~ |

So far, he loaded 2 "Son" Thomas songs into it... More later as the P-Vine and I are going to spend the day off the farm as a reward for bustin' our butts for the last 2 weeks getting our house ready for pics to go on the market (maybe there will abother thread on that in a few days)... Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Joins I-Pod Nation... But... From: Bettynh Date: 09 Sep 10 - 02:06 PM Your ipod can connect to any device with a microphone-in socket. If you need an adapter for older sizes, Radio Shack has them. If your car has a cassette slot, there's an adapter for that. Otherwise in cars, you're stuck with an FM broadcaster thingie that hopefully won't conflict with local NPR stations. If you're taking a long car trip, you can get a charger that fits into the cigarette lighter socket. There are some rules for transferring music, especially music you buy from the Itunes store. They can only be copied to disc a limited number of times (I think I was told it's 7 times). Audio books from Audible.com are also blocked - get a program to transfer Itunes or Audible books to mp3s and the problems go away. I'm not sure how Itunes for Windows looks and acts, as I'm on a Mac, but if I want to make a CD I have to remember that Itunes only shows the "Burn CD" button for playlists. You can't just pick an album from the Music file and burn it. You have to make it a playlist first. On a Mac, simply clicking on a music file will load it into Itunes. I'm not sure that happens with Windows. |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Joins I-Pod Nation... But... From: Amos Date: 09 Sep 10 - 12:07 PM From the iTunes help file: Adding music and video to iPod, iPhone, and iPad You can set up iTunes to automatically update the music and video on your iPod, iPhone, or iPad when you connect your device to your computer. If you want more precise control over the content you add, or if you want to use your iPod with more than one computer, you can choose to manage your music and video manually. Your iPhone or iPad can be managed with only one computer, even if you manage your content manually. The first time you connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, you choose between automatically syncing or manually managing your content, but you can change the setting any time your device is connected to your computer. To sync music and video to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad automatically: 1 Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device in iTunes (below Devices). 2 Click the Music tab and choose your options for automatically syncing songs and playlists: To choose your options for automatically syncing video, click the Movies or TV Shows tab. To start syncing, click Apply. iTunes uses these settings until you change them. If you sync multiple devices with different settings, iTunes saves the different settings for each device. You can change your sync settings any time your device is connected to your computer. If you choose automatic syncing, you can't add songs by dragging. To manage your music and video manually: Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer and select your device in iTunes (below Devices). Click the Summary tab and select "Manually manage music and videos" (below Options). Select Music, Movies, or TV Shows (below Library). Drag songs, videos, and playlists to your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices). Before you disconnect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad, click the Eject button: If you manage your music manually, you can also fill your device with a single click by using Autofill. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There is also a tutorial at http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/. If the iPod is plugged in it should show up as one of the devices on iTUnes and you can drag the tunes from the library of music on iTunes into the iPod. A |

Subject: RE: BS: Bobert Joins I-Pod Nation... But... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 09 Sep 10 - 12:32 AM I shopped around and found that the Sansa Fuze has the bells and whistles of the iPod (and is easy to navigate, unlike the incredibly slow and difficult ultra-cheap players) at about 1/3 the price. We're on our second set now (my son's was plumb worn out last spring and he borrowed mine, but got caught in a heavy downpour and didn't stop using it when it clearly needed to be dried out. . . ). Sansa Fuze 8 gig player. I use Windows Media Player to rip my CDs to the library (in the computer) and then from there "sync" or drag them to the media player (once it's plugged in and acknowledged by Media Player). Sometimes I just use Windows Explorer to move stuff around. Mostly I seem to use it for the FM radio. If I'm out driving in the pickem'up truck and hear a good story on NPR and don't want to wait in the truck for it to end, I pull out the mp3 player, tune in the radio, and off I go. So it is a glorified transistor radio. :) SRS |

Stick a CD in the puter's CD tray (the beverage holder). 3. iTunes will ask if you want to import the tunes from the CD. Say yes. 4. Repeat with as many CDs as you like. 5. See 1 above re iPod. |
