Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Charley Noble Date: 26 Mar 11 - 08:22 PM Well, Kendall, "adoption" is not quite the same thing as "pregnancy." I was giving the governor the benefit of the doubt, that he was treating his caddy's son as "family." You're quite correct that he hadn't legally adopted this young man. But he has paid for his college education. And I bet he has taken a deduction on his IRS form for every penny of it. Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: kendall Date: 26 Mar 11 - 07:27 PM Charlie, how does one "sort of adopt" ? When that fat head caught hell for telling the NAACP to kiss his ass, he tried to ease it by claiming that he had a black son. That black "Son" was actually the son of his caddy! He did not adopt him. |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Greg F. Date: 26 Mar 11 - 04:55 PM lest the people forget. Oh, please. Not onlly have "the people" -a.k.a. the Boobocracy - long since forgotten, they've now embarked on anti-union jihad. |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Charley Noble Date: 26 Mar 11 - 02:27 PM Yes, Portland's City Hall would be a fine place to exhibit the mural, and then send it around to Lewiston, to Jay, and other places where there were labor struggles, lest the people forget. Thank you, Governor, for inspiring this resurgence of union spirit in our fair state. Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: J-boy Date: 25 Mar 11 - 10:35 PM There are plans underway to move the "offending" murals to Portland City Hall. I look forward to seeing them. Ironic that I didn't know of their existence before now. So thanks for that at least,Mr. Governor. |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Charley Noble Date: 25 Mar 11 - 10:24 PM No, LePage is the other model. He grew up in a poor dysfunctional family and made good. Therefore he thinks everyone else should be able to make it on their own. He did sort of adopt a young Black boy from a poor Jamaican family while he was there on vacation, brought him back to Maine and has paid for his education. So he doesn't lack empathy on some level. But he's also overly ambition to make his mark at the national level in conservative Republican circles. I somehow don't think whatever success he achieves at that level will be worth the cost. We'll just have to find another public place for the mural, assuming we can get our hands on it. Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 25 Mar 11 - 06:40 PM That Bobert, is possibly, because they have had an easy life, never had to struggle for anything, and thus are spoiled little brats, throwing tantrums all the time. A good argument for (or perhaps against!) letting babies play with revolvers in their cribs, I'd say .... The group of Aussie politicans that trashed the 'free Uni degrees' all got theirs for free ... |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Bobert Date: 25 Mar 11 - 06:29 PM This current crop of Repubs are as radical as anything we've seen in our life times... They seem to have one thing in common and that is destroy as much progressive "progress" that has been earned over the last 100 years as they can possibly destroy... This has nothing to do with $$$, BTW... It is a far right agenda that has no place in a modern nation... It's as if the Taliban had snuck into power... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 25 Mar 11 - 06:38 AM Let him wank away - all those minor irrelevant changes can be easily and rapidly reversed. Destroying people's livelihoods and health will take a lot more time and resources to reverse. |

Subject: RE: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Charley Noble Date: 24 Mar 11 - 08:47 PM That's not all. Some of us here in Maine fully expect LePage to order the burning of all books in the Law Library next week. He's definitely a piece of work and loves national publicity, even if it subjects him to ridicule by the liberal elite. Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins from the FDR Administration is evidently also one of his targets. There's a conference room named in her honor. The various conference rooms are going to be renamed as well. One suggestion is that they be named for mountains in Maine. Well, we only have Mt. Katahdin. The other conference rooms will have to be named after our mole hills. Charley Noble Richmond, Maine |

Subject: BS: More Union-Busting Revisionist History From: Greg F. Date: 24 Mar 11 - 04:53 PM March 23, 2011 AUGUSTA — Maine Gov. Paul LePage has ordered the removal of a 36-foot mural depicting the state's labor history from the lobby of the Department of Labor headquarters building in Augusta. In addition, the LePage administration is renaming several department conference rooms that carry the names of pro-labor icons such as Cesar Chavez. Labor leaders described LePage's decision to remove the mural as "political payback" in a statement released this morning by the Maine AFL-CIO. "It's unfortunate that Governor LePage continues to pick fights with the working class in Maine," said Don Berry, president of the Maine AFL-CIO. "This is political payback, the opposite of putting people first. It's a spiteful, mean-spirited move by the governor that does nothing to create jobs or improve the Maine economy." LePage spokeswoman Adrienne Bennett released an anonymous fax dated Feb. 24 that apparently comes from someone who sat in the Labor Department lobby. The person wrote: "In studying the mural I observed that this mural is nothing but propaganda to further the agenda of the Union movement. I felt for a moment that I was in communist North Korea where they use these murals to brainwash the masses." The fax is signed "A Secret Admirer." Portland, Maine, PRESS HERALD |
