Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Jack the Sailor Date: 29 Oct 11 - 02:51 AM I was in Arkansas listening to the Cards NLCS coverage when it was happening. I stated rooting for them then. I am glad they won. I hope Pujols stays with them. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Oct 11 - 10:06 PM Lots of chances made and lots blown. In another game of ebb and flow, in the 5th the Rangers ebbed and the Cards flowed. 5-2 Cards....top of the 6th. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: gnu Date: 28 Oct 11 - 08:08 PM Wesley... 8 what was meant to ask what time zone... no matter... it's on! BTW... I spoke with my bud about the baseball. He clued me in and into the Mayweather vs Otiz fight. I don't watch boxing much anymore. But, I found it odd that... well, perhaps a new thread? |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Oct 11 - 06:42 PM For the time zones of the players (Central) the game coverage starts way ahead, but if you're in front of the telly by 7pm you won't miss any of the game. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Wesley S Date: 28 Oct 11 - 04:00 PM Yes Gnu I should have said 8:00 PM. The game could have easily started at 8:00 in the morning. EJ - FYI we have a birdfeeder on our back deck. And I've been shooting Cardinals with my BB gun all day. For luck.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Lonesome EJ Date: 28 Oct 11 - 03:10 PM Wes, I hate to see traditions broken, and so I sincerely hope the Rangers can stick with their history of not winning the World Series. :>) Having said that, it was indeed a great game, its been a terrific series, and both teams have scrapped hard enough to deserve to be champions. All of us fans will remember the 2011 World Series as one of the best, if not the best, in our lifetimes, win or lose. GO CARDS! |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Wesley S Date: 28 Oct 11 - 02:24 PM The pregame coverage starts about 7:30 - that's eastern standard time. I think the actual game starts at 8:00. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: open mike Date: 28 Oct 11 - 01:33 PM when will today's game be on... I might even watch a bit.. I am not a sports fan, but the excitement about this is infectious. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 28 Oct 11 - 11:05 AM The constant tieing and changing of leads is what made it exciting. I'm a Red Sox fan, and MY stomach was in knots watching this game. I can't see how Game 7 can be any better. Great clutch hitting by both teams, and pitchers within one strike of victory. Yeah, that's what it's all about. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: pdq Date: 28 Oct 11 - 10:51 AM You don't have to like Tony LaRussa to admit that he is a brilliant manager and makes all the right move to win. I don't know anything about the Texas manager but he made a few bonehead moves that enabled the Rangers to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Stilly River Sage Date: 28 Oct 11 - 10:13 AM It's interesting but I'm not a spectator sports fan. I watched a bit of the game at bedtime but turned it off after they tied in the ninth. This morning I was pleased to learn that the series was tied up because that seventh game is always better than any of the others for sheer drama and people-watching. When a team wins in the fourth or fifth game it looks like they were unmatched and doesn't seem as impressive a win as when they're so well matched and go the distance. IMHO. :) SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Rapparee Date: 28 Oct 11 - 09:48 AM I knew it would go to seven games. They always do. The fix is in by the big-money boys. But you just wait until the Cubs get going! |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Wesley S Date: 28 Oct 11 - 09:44 AM My wife is a huge fan but she says she doesn't want to watch - that she can't take the pressure. We'll see. |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Oct 11 - 07:59 AM I had the feeling that last night Nolan wanted to put the entire Cardinal team in a Robin Ventura style headlock. The Rangers win would be historical but the St. Louis comeback since August would be so as well. Texas has already delivered something I thought I would never see......the complete short circuit and meltdown, however briefly, of one of the finest managers in the game. Tonight could go any number of ways from blowout to nailbiter for either team. Spaw |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Wesley S Date: 28 Oct 11 - 07:32 AM "Extremely enjoyable. " ????? For who?? The freaking Cardinals fans? All we Ranger fans saw was a nail biter that's forcing a seventh game before we get what's rightfully ours. It's our turn now and tonight - if there is any justice in the universe - we'll win the Series. Win one more for the Nolan! |

Subject: RE: BS: Cards & Rangers From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Oct 11 - 06:15 AM It was great......not for the high level of play but for the ebb and flow.......the mistake and the terrific plays.......the redemption after the failure. This has been a great series! The Rangers down to one strike from a series win TWICE and the Cards coming back................Will the Cards win carryover and make the Cards one of the best comeback stories ever? Or will the Rangers be so refocued they take the prize they have never had? I dunno' but you can betcher ass I'll be watching! Spaw |

Subject: BS: Cards & Rangers From: Seamus Kennedy Date: 28 Oct 11 - 01:16 AM Helluva game between the Cardinals and the Rangers in the World Series tonight. Not exactly a defensive gem, but thrilling and tense until the final out. Extremely enjoyable. |
