Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,999 Date: 12 May 12 - 01:56 PM I agree, Stringsinger. Hell, it works the same way when the US is demonized by Islam. Leaders KNOW this stuff works. Hence, when one pulls the trigger one is killing a gook or a slant or a rag head and not a father or son. Takes the 'edge' off as it were. |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: Stringsinger Date: 12 May 12 - 11:52 AM The idea behind basic training in the military is to reinforce the concept of hating the enemy, dehumanizing them to facilitate the job of killing them easier. It is perfectly reasonable that the army would attempt to discredit Islam in order to motivate the soldiers to destroy it without thinking about the implications of such an action. One of the ways they do this is to use religion as a tool to facilitate this. "Onward Christian Soldiers" As long as this pattern of "re-education" is noticed and understood, there can be alternatives. 1. Create empathy in the military for the culture they are attempting to destroy. 2. As policing methods become more militarized, a division between policing and warring need to be separated. 3. Respect the need for negotiations and diplomacy over killing and carnage. 4. Bring more peace workers in to the "enemy" country or forces to offset the military authoritarian mindset, not military contractors who are attempting to profit financially from a volatile situation. 5. Remember "separation of church and state" and defang the religious dogma used as a war tool. |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 11 May 12 - 06:45 PM No indication that all or even any of the other senior officers who must surely have known all about this for a year have been suspended prior to being court martialled. |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: Penny S. Date: 11 May 12 - 03:38 PM It did seem to link not quite seamlessly with the book I've been reading about the anti-science activities fo some school boards. Scarey stuff. Rapparee, I had one of those, nearly sang it one Christmas service. A bit less apocalyptic, though. Oh little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy shallow troubled sleep Israeli tanks roll by. Above thy dark streets shineth The sniper's laser light And rocket launchers take their stand Deliver'ing death tonight. Penny |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: Richard Bridge Date: 11 May 12 - 03:30 PM I wonder if there should be a similar enquiry into what is being taught in American schools? |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: Rapparee Date: 11 May 12 - 03:28 PM Oh little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and lifeless sleep The silent stars roll by. Yet in thy dark streets shineth The mushroom's glaring light The hopes and fears of all the years Were blown to Hell tonight. |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: Rapparee Date: 11 May 12 - 03:03 PM You know, when the Trinity Shot was touched off in July, 1945, there was some concern that it would ignite the atmosphere. Woulda ended WW2, the Cold War, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Israel, recessions, depressions, the Civil Rights Movement, Northern Ireland, Southern Ireland -- just all sorts of things. Niner, I too had those classes. In the Army they told us that if we saw a nuclear explosion we were to dig a hole, cover it with our ponchos, crawl in and sit tight and the fallout wouldn't get us. I suspect that the tooth fairy would come to wrap our bodies in the ponchos and fill in the hole. |

WE WILL ALL GO TOGETHER WHEN WE GO Tom Lehrer as rec by Tom Lehrer (vocal & piano) July 8th 1959 NY also rec by Tom Lehrer w Orch cond by Richard Hayman Jan 21st 1960 NY When you attend a funeral It's sad to think that sonner or l- -ater those you love will do the same for you. And you may have thought it tragic, Not to mention other adjec- -tives to think of all the weeping they will do, But don't you worry! No more ashes, no more sackcloth, And an armband made of black cloth Will someday never more adorn a sleeve, For if the bomb that drops on you Gets your friends and neighbours too, There'll be nobody left behind to grieve! And we will all go together when we go, What a comforting fact that is to know! Universal bereavement, An inspiring achievement, Yes, we will all go together when we go! We will all go together when we go, All suffused with an incandescent glow! No-one will have the endurance To collect on his insurance, Lloyds of London will be loaded when they go! We will all fry together when we fry, We'll be french fried potatoes by and by, There will be no more misery When the world is our rotisserie, Yes, we will all fry together when we fry! Down by the old mill stralm, There'll be a storm before the calm. And we will all bake together when we bake, There'll be nobody present at the wake! With complete participation In that grand incineration, Nearly three billion hunks of well-done steak! For we will all char together when we char, And let there be no moaning at the bar. Just sing out a Te Deum When you see that ICBM, And the party will be "come as you are!". We will all burn together when we burn, There'll be no need to stand and wait your turn! When it's time for the fallout And Saint Peter calls us all out, We'll just drop our agendas and adjourn. You will all go to your respective Valhallas; Go directly, do not pass "go", do not collect two hundred dollars! And we will all go together when we go, Every Hottentot and every Eskimo! When the air becomes uraneous, We will all go simultaneous, Yes, we will all go together when we all go together, Yes, we will all go together when we go! |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,999 Date: 11 May 12 - 12:08 PM As a btw, if you ever ARE attacked by nuclear weapons, here's what to do. 1) Close the curtains on all windows in the house 2) Turn off all vents to outside air 3) Take the sturdiest chair and place it behind the strongest wall 4) Sit on the chair 5) Place a small pillow on your lap 6) Lean forward as far as you are able 7) Kiss your arse goodbye |

Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,999 Date: 11 May 12 - 12:01 PM I didn't say it was right, Eliza. Just that a course member DID blow the whistle. Hell, I sat through classes on what to do if/when we were attacked with nuclear weapons. I was in the classes with people who thought all the bullshit the army was giving out really meant something. The fact I sat through the classes does NOT mean I agreed with what we were being told. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 11 May 12 - 11:50 AM Guest 999, the last paragraph of the article clearly states that the commanders, captains and colonels sat through the year-long course and saw no reason to complain, until someone did only a month ago. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,Lighter Date: 11 May 12 - 11:06 AM Yeah, but it looks like it took a whole year. Don't forget, those "commanders, captains and colonels" are products of the American educational system. (Or, to be fair, the American anti-education ethos, which derides all liberal arts, including history, literature, philosophy, and religious studies.) No wonder they didn't notice anything funny. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,999 Date: 11 May 12 - 10:33 AM "As the article says, why didn't anyone on the course blow the whistle?" Someone in the course DID blow the whistle. That's why it's being attended to, Eliza. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: Rapparee Date: 11 May 12 - 10:33 AM This is asinine. It shouldn't have been on the course list in the first place. A class on the fundamental beliefs of Islam, yes. But not that. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: US military course suspended From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 11 May 12 - 07:46 AM If this is so, I too am appalled. My husband is a Muslim. You can imagine our reaction to such wicked propoganda. As the article says, why didn't anyone on the course blow the whistle? Could it be because they too subscribe to this mindset? In UK this might have sparked riots and civil unrest all over the country by deeply offended and enraged Muslims. Such bigotry and hatred fuels wars and deaths. I feel very strongly about this, it's outrageous. |

Subject: BS: US military course suspended From: Penny S. Date: 11 May 12 - 06:52 AM Has anyone else seen or heard this (on the radio this morning). BBC report General Martin Dempsey appalled I assume that as part of the clean-up there will have to be a great deal of debriefing and re-education going on. Penny |
