Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Charmion Date: 25 Dec 12 - 09:53 PM The consequence they foresaw, indeed hoped for, was humiliation of somebody, preferably a member of the hospital staff, but they were willing to be their own fall guys if necessary. How anyone can find entertainment value in humiliating the poor sap answeringthe phone at a hospital is beyond me. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Elmore Date: 25 Dec 12 - 09:02 PM DJs were guilty of poor taste, a policy heretofore subscribed to by their employers, but it's a stretch to say that they could have forseen the consequence of their act. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Richard Bridge Date: 25 Dec 12 - 02:51 PM That is a very good article. It's too charitable when it refers to the antics of the schoolyard bully - the turds who pulled this prank are lower than that sort of vile low. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: gnu Date: 25 Dec 12 - 02:00 PM 9... VERY good article. Thanks. |

Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 25 Dec 12 - 11:16 AM Don't much care about your plans Troll, but I for one will greatly appreciate your departure. Maybe some public spirited person will take you at your word and humiliate the hell out of you with a stupid pointless prank. One can only hope! Don T. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 25 Dec 12 - 07:31 AM ""surely a nurse with two suicide attempts should not have been empployed in such a responsible position."" Yeah! That'll work! Remove all depressives from gainful employment, they'll be much happier on the scrap heap. She was on medication. She was a highly skilled and competent nurse, suffering from a condition which afflicts way too many people these days. She was on medication to control her depression when two idiots threw a spanner in the works and pushed her over the edge. So let's all get together and blame her rather than the numbnuts pair who triggered a tragedy with a tasteless and thoughtless prank. I like a good laugh as much as any and more than most, but I can't abide these so-called practical jokes (neither practical nor funny), which cause humiliation or actual harm. I'm in the James Thurber camp! He told the story of the best man who rented the room above the honeymooners and had two friends lower him on a rope, so he could scare the bejeezis out of the happy couple in the early hours. He was hanging outside the sixth storey window when the rope snapped. Thurber said that was the funniest practical joke he had ever heard of. Don T. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: akenaton Date: 24 Dec 12 - 08:46 PM Well, I certainly think the prank was stupid, but i feel that way about most of what passes for humour these days......mostly disgusting demeaning innuendo and smut, but there was plenty of mirth in the media when the story broke. Having said that, the stupid pair were not to know the state of mind of the poor woman and I think I agree with Al, surely a nurse with two suicide attempts should not have been empployed in such a responsible position. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Charmion Date: 24 Dec 12 - 08:20 PM If it's a joke, surely someone should be laughing? I don't hear any laughing. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: GUEST,Bring on the republic Date: 24 Dec 12 - 07:36 PM "I'd still string the DJs up. The male one by his balls and the other by the most painful equivalent." Richard, there are plenty of curry consumers with a chip on their shoulder who might follow your advice. It was a "joke" right? (kettle-pot- discolouration) |

Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Richard Bridge Date: 24 Dec 12 - 09:35 AM I'm finding myself agreeing with some unlikely people these days. There was nothing funny about the "joke" and all of those "practical" jokes are only funny if you think it's OK to humiliate and demean someone. To call enjoying that having a "sense of humour" is like calling bear-baiting or cockfighting a "sport". I'd still string the DJs up. The male one by his balls and the other by the most painful equivalent. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: GUEST,Big Al Whittle Date: 24 Dec 12 - 08:33 AM I think OP has a point. At very least, the nurse should not have been allowed to work in a hospital where there was access to drugs, and the possibility of hurting other people undetected. |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Nigel Parsons Date: 24 Dec 12 - 08:18 AM Megan, The restriction on guests starting BS threads was removed some time ago. However, we all have the option of not responding to them, and so making some of the trolling that goes on here pointless. The 'guests' who start these threads thrive on attention. If we stop responding we strangle the weeds! |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Megan L Date: 24 Dec 12 - 07:51 AM So much for guests not starting BS threads |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: Henry Krinkle Date: 24 Dec 12 - 07:39 AM It was the wrong thing to do. Really tasteless and immature. =(:-( l) |
Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 24 Dec 12 - 07:20 AM 'Third Time Lucky' rather a cruel way to describe the poor woman's suicide attempts, don't you think? And setting aside the 'joking' aspect of the incident, it is not right to phone a hospital pretending to be 'family' in order to have access to a confidential progress report on a patient. A lady is dead, her family devastated, and it's very sad. |

Subject: RE: BS: Third time lucky? From: gnu Date: 23 Dec 12 - 09:41 PM If you engage in public mischief and such has consequences you are liable for those consequences. To state that to engage in an illegal or immoral or ANY act and not need be held be responsible for ANY resulting consequences is ludicrous. "Gee whiz... golly gosh." is not a defense. It is a shame. Blaming the victim is beyond shame. Such statements to the contrary remind me of why I cannot play a geetar or Rhan any more... I used to beat the shit out of bullies at school when I was a wee and not so wee lad and I have the worn, arthritic knuckles to show for it. And I am happy I have them. Fuck all the bullies. Bring it on, BringBring. I am still here. And I will still take out the trash. Bring it on. |
