I have totally had this experience. Don't remember the actual titles nor what I thought....

Steve, you may have solved nothing, but neither have our representatives.
(but don't let me derail my own thread by starting that one up here)

It's a job of moderators to clarify the meaning of thread titles, especially when someone puts up a clever but inscrutable subject. Staying close to the original post and adding clarification is usually possible, but not always.

not a thread, but I read instructions in a cookbook a few days ago saying blah, blah, blah, remove the cover and tuck in.

I spent rather too long trying to work out what I should tuck where.

I know that I have had that experience at the Mudcat,
and more than once --

but, embarrassing to admit,
my recall fails me as to the subjects.

Well I called the thread I started "Brexit#3: a futile gesture?" not because I thought brexit was a futile gesture but because I thought at the time that, after two previous brexit thread closures, it might be futile to open yet another. It's now managed way over 4000 posts so it wasn't futile after all, though I confess that we've solved nothing...

How many times have you opened a thread to make this discovery. E.g
Field Recorders' Collective - 101 albums is not about recorder playing.
